It was a case of starting with a clean canvas. As the ensuite was fully functional, I knew I could take my time and thanks to some carefully considered planning and measuring, I didn't need to compromise on any of the initial ideas.

The results were quite satisfying. I just need to adjust the colours of the diffusers for the strip lighting with some cheap studio lighting filter film.

Rach initially thought the lighting below the loo and under the wash basin shelf was excessive, but she came round on that. I wanted to eliminate any shadows cast by the sink shelf, wall hung toilet and bath panel. The base of the bath panel is commented by a 70mm strip of mirrored perspex and discreetly illuminated from above, giving the illusion that the floor continues under the bath.

As I was reducing the area by bringing the window sill out, this would reduce the area in a small bathroom.
I used a couple of ideas to give the perception of a larger floor space. The overall intention for the bathroom was to have a clear floor. So, I planned for a wall hung toilet and a wall mounted floating shelf for the basin. This was further highlighted by lighting the shaded areas with a single LED lamp under the toilet and some LED strip mounted under the basin shelf.
The bath panel was also lifted off the floor with an LED strip beneath and the addition of a mirror perspex panel that gave the impression of a floating bath as though the floor continues right under the tub.
I think these little additions help make the bathroom look bigger.

All the low voltage LED lighting was planned to add light without being directly visible.

This looks great. Good job. As someone with a similar sized (perhaps even smaller) bathroom can I ask what you're doing for storage? I'm struggling to keep stuff off the window ledge which then looks a mess!

The only solution so far Jules is the loo roll storage. I hate toothbrushes paste etc. on display, but I need to come up with something soon or Rachel will take over😃

I'm the Rachel in this house!! 🙈 Our bathroom is so dusty too so open shelving not an option but I don't like any of the slimline bathroom wall cabinets I can find. Might put my own dilemma up!

I did suggest a shallow pop out drawer, beneath the basin shelf but that wasn't approved. I can make pretty much anything, so if Rachel approves I can make a cabinet but that would be a last resort. Still, like yourself, looking for inspiration.

Final touches are in.. almost. A 14 month project all in. I'm so pleased with the outcome and not compromised at all from my original ideas and drawings.
