Cleaning Tips Flooring

Karndean flooring

I have Karndean flooring in my kitchen & utility. Is there an easier way to clean it than the Karndean system of Remove, Refresh? I only do it about once a year but I’m getting older and am finding it more challenging physically.

I personally wouldn't go for the solis tile in bedrooms as visually I think it could look a little cold but great for kitchen/dining. Did you have any particular wood effect in mind? Darker flooring with lighter walls can actually make a room look bigger but not easy to keep clean. I would probably try a mid oak if that is a worry.

I would maybe try to get the karndean to go under the bath. It will be fine around the WC and other units but it's a big ask for the fitter to cut it around the feet. You will have to ask him, but it shouldn't be too expensive to get someone to undo the bath waste so the bath can be moved whilst the flooring is done. You will maybe need a few strong lifters for the bath though.

We have Karndean ( van gogh ) throughout the whole of the downstairs, back part of the house - Kitchen / diner, conservatory, utility, downstairs bathroom. Having the whole area the same makes the space look larger and gives a seamless finish, so having done it myself, i'd go for the same everywhere. We used to have parquet in the dining room, tiles in the kitchen, different tiles in the utility and downstairs bathroom and have never regretted changing it all. Karndean is literally indistructable ( our two dogs are testament to that ), so easily cleaned etc

We have wet ufh and Karndean throughout our ground floor. The ambient heat to the rooms is really good. Obviously a tiled floor would spread the heat more evenly across the floor, but the flip side is that tiled floors are cold in the summer when you don’t have the ufh on. So, one of the reasons we chose Karndean was that it would feel warm underfoot all year. You need to make sure the correct adhesive is used so it doesn’t melt when the heat is on.
