Such a pity... your splashback is beautiful, but it looks out of place at the moment. There are a couple of things you could do: - cover the rest of the wall in a back-painted glass that matches the background colour (milky white?) of your splashback (similar to pic below) - you could have it on the left hand side wall (the one with microwave+oven) if you can give up the plugs there, re-sized, obviously; choose something else for the rest of the kitchen. - re-size and place it vertically in front of the hob. - use it somewhere else (bathroom?) and consider new splashback for kitchen. Thank you all for getting back to me, I really appreciate your comments. I had never thought of parquet flooring, I'm definitely going to have a look in to that, I was worried that the white tile may look to clinical, I think a wood floor may give it that extra warmth and texture. With the mirror backsplash, I'm glad to here that it is possible, if the company that we went to still disagrees, I will look at alternative suppliers. Yes, there is a 2.5 metre window and an orangery directly opposite the kitchen, you maybe able to see it briefly in the second image in my first post. So there is quite a lot of light coming in to the room. Thanks again for all your help :)

Do you need a backsplash? What do you want from it? Colour, pattern, or just to protect the walls from splashes (the only reason I think makes sense!) I have no backsplash, my sink is against a wall but it's vinyl Matt and it wipes easily. My hob is on island so no backslash needed. If it's just for behind your hob you can use glass, so not obvious. I would suggest you wait til your kitchen units/worktop/floor is all fitted before deciding, it makes it easier!
