@rominamuscat Do you mean the ceiling/coving looks (sometimes) yellow, or the cabinets do? It’s probably a combination of the light (natural and artificial) with the paint colour causing the yellowish appearance. Lighting can often be the biggest factor in a paint colour not appearing as you expect all the time. (In the pic the ceiling looks okay to me). Monitor the colour during the day to work out when it looks yellowish and then you could try changing the light bulbs in the light fitting first, before thinking about changing the paint (It’s a cheaper experiment than repainting and might just solve your issue)!

Hello asart Ltd, Oooh sounds really nice... What I would say is go for something that is quite dramatic.. With ceilings so high, you can afford to have something a little more opulent, that goes both up the wall and into the ceiling area.. Other details might give you an idea as to the feel of things.. such as staircases, doors... or skirting if there is any left! Might sound odd but often the grandeur of the place can be detected from other aspects.. So go on and have a poke around! Stevensons of Norwich are to my mind one of the best and given that you are from the area they are right on your doorstep!! ... They have an excellent range of plaster cornices and roses to suit the more austere and opulent interior equally.... For ceiling colours... I would go for Whitening by Little Greene. It's the most wonderful chalky creamy colour that is superb.... It's also a fantastic colour for the panel in between the picture rail and the cornice... If you are going for that look... Of course you could add colour there, in line with the wall coverings... Incidentally even if you have a contemporary interior... You can still choose really wonderful period finishes... They will add something. So don't choose based solely on what the furnishings might be.. The wood work either a chalky white or something a little more daring do.... : ))

Hi Jenna, OK, the bottom line is you need some meat in the construction to support those beams, so going totally open plan is off the cards unless you want to spend an astronomical amount on posts, tee'd steels and load bearing pads. We're talking tens of thousand here and judging by the footprint of the house I suspect it simply doesn't warrant it. I could suggest pulling the wall out separating the kicthen / dining room, blocking up the existing door leading into the dining room. Fit a full or half glazed door into the kitchen (you will want to be able to isolate cooking smells from the rest of the house) and then add glazed doors to the playroom. It may not be as open plan as you wanted but the light splays should be sufficient to make it feel bright and airy, Having a large mirror on the left hand dining wall will also push light further into the room from the rear patio doors.
