I didn’t include the box on the left of the window. Is it a radiator or something else. If it’s a radiator, then the plant is not a good idea in that corner, unless you’d move it under the window.

Thank you so much for the incredible plans and ideas. I hadn’t considered building a wall between the wardrobes and the bed area but thinking of it, it could be a really nice simple way to make the bedroom feel more contained and cosy. I’ll look into that and see how much it will cost.

Another thing I was considering is using some sort of canopy or four poster bed instead of a normal bed, to try to make the sleeping area feel a bit more contained. Do you think this would be a good, or terrible idea? The ceilings are over 9 foot, so there would definitely be vertical space.

Hi Nik, the four poster bed could look and feel very cosy indeed.

I thought about it. I think that the room is not wide enough, the bed will also block the only light source from the window. If you define the headboard more prominently it will also cosy up the space quite a bit.

I've made a mock up with a four poster bed.

That looks incredible, thank you so much. We’re starting to get into the canopy bed idea bit more now as it’s something a little different, and will sort of frame the bed area of the room a little more. The mock ups you’ve put together have been a big help in understanding how this might look.

The overall style we are going for is sort of “Japandi” oriental Scandinavian mix :)

So far we’re found a couple of beds available in Europe that we like, but are a bit torn between two of them... any advice on what you think looks best would be appreciated!!! We would like to keep the oriental style side tables with the bed too (and maybe use the color in the picture for the wall)

Hi Nik, looks like you are on the right track to achieve the Japandi look. those beds look amazing. i would personally prefer one with the soft headboars. the wall colour looks reach, organic and calming. good plan. What colour are the bedside table, on one picture they looked almost blue black, on the last comment they look more green.

The bedside tables are almost a sort of teal-green in a Lacquered finish with some gold bits, we’re finding it quite tricky to match with them but both would really like to incorporate them in the room in some sort of way!

So we’re still torn between the two canopy beds and would really appreciate some feedback on which might go best :) I’ve tried to put them together with some of the other furniture and colors we like... any thoughts?

Also would go for blocking room with wardrobes, and bathroom separate, I would suggest pocket doors into walk in wardrobe area, not only would it save space but be in line with a Japanese style..

If you choose the lovely pale wooden four poster, it would be softer on the eye, worse case you ended up not liking it further down the track you could saw off the posts, I recently cut the foot board off my bed and it transformed my whole room

That looks really good. It's really up to you at this point to choose the bed. I, personally, like the bottom one more. Maybe it would help, if you be able to see both beds in person in the shop. you might prefer one to the other depending on the wood and how it feels.

Where are ceiling pendants from? they are amazing.

Michelle, Jojo. Thank you both for your helpful comments and advice. We are going to make a decision and order the bed this Friday. When the bed has arrived we will look further into building a partition wall and see if there is enough space.
