I would say the problem lies more with the carpet cleaner or how it’s been used. Carpet cleaners shouldn’t soak a carpet to the extent that water soaks through the carpet, underlay and ceiling.

Thanks for that, it’s a brand new machine and it was used on all of upstairs but only came through one area and carpet is only slightly damp.

im in new build house and floor was repaired a year ago due to being uneven and seems to be just this one localised area where patches have appeared.

Sometimes when my kids are in the bath and they splash a Wet patch appears in ceiling below so is there something I can do about this also noticed severe lack of silicone behind bath panel

In that case, if there have been other problems, I’d go back to the building company.

Problem is it’s persimmons and house is 2years old and they don’t want to know, I would have more luck getting blood out of a stone

I think you are using too much water with your cleaner. Chipboard floors are not designed to get wet so don't need to be siliconed. Likewise you must not splash too much water on your bathroom floor. With my 4 year old we put down a towel when we know there's going to be water everywhere.

If your chipboard gets wet repeatedly it will start to sag and eventually fall apart. If you siliconed it, it would hold water, which would be worse. Think of it as really thick cardboard! (It's really not much better than that.)
