Secondly, you could take advantage of the space above the radiator and either enlarge the window sill or put a shelf on top. If you are crafty, you could do a wall mounted type table, so you can leave it down when not in use. A couple of easy solutions would be to buy a curtain rail and use it to hang clothes on it. Or buy funky hooks. Or make a clothes hook that's attractive and practical. Lastly, walls above the bed can take a few shelves. You can go simple or funky, but it's a space you could easily utilise. In regard to the walls colour, I'd either go all very light (white or off white) and then have the headboards, shelves, etc. in bold colours. Or you could go one strong colour all around (including ceiling) and keep the rest white or light. Good luck!

I've just cobbled together a quick plan for you and then on re-reading OnePlan's suggestion above I realise its the same thing so apologies for that. Wasnt trying to copy. If you have more accurate dimensions I'll happily put together something a bit more accurate. With this plan you lose a bit of space from the front room and the bedroom but you turn the flat into a 2 bed, great for when you come to resell. To get light into the bedroom you could have a frosted glass panel in place of the existing window and as long as there are rooflights above the kitchen then the bedroom will get some light but its not going to be a great sunny room.

I think I have a plan outined at the bottom of the following comments/replies. @clofty24 - yes a sliding door was considered but it would either take more room out of the bathroom or consist of major work outside the door. @lottie27111975 @karrrla @tryphic - walk in shower/wet room would be ideal but would require quite a lot of work and as its upstairs been advised against it. Although im getting a second opinion from a local tiler soon. @Ensign Accessories I just photographed at a bad time, most of the time its not so cluttered. However it is the only space to store a lot of the stuff, so hence the many storage options. Corner unit is a no go because the room has no available corners (shower, window, door, toilet). @Rachel FitzGerald I think the toilet needs to stay where it is due to the plumbing of the large waste pipe and the fact my walls are 1.2m thick! @baxterh the back wall doesnt go onto the landing its inside the other bedroom but replacing the wall is currently not an option. Nice idea though :-) @Sharon Boughedda The matching tiles is a good idea, I was only going to tile the shower area and paint the rest a teal colour. But the floor could defo match. I think im going for a unit top sink, but place it partly on the windowsill (which is huge) and partly on a new unit. The window is huge so adds lot of light during the day. @kittihawke I think moving the doors is unworkable unfortunately as that would make more room. i hate the floor tiles so might have to have another look at ripping them up! @jonathandb1972 the window is an original sash window and it would be criminal to block it off I feel. Plus it gives the bathroom a lot of light which helps to alleviate the size issue a bit. Velux isnt possible due to loft above. I think im going to put in 760x900 quadrant shower, with a frameless design so its less imposing. The toilet will stay where it is but with a back wall toilet onto a hidden cistern. Two 500mm cabinets next to each other one with the toilet and another with the sink on top, and worktop on top of the cabinets which goes back and over the windowsill too. The sink will then be half on the cabinet and half on the windowsill (which is big). B+Q are the only place I have found which seem to do slimline cabinets which will make it all fit. Im trying to find a bit of planning software that includes B+Q items and also allows me to include the windowsill!! The tap to the sink will be to the side of the basin so all the plumbing can be in the under cabinet.

I wouldn't change much regarding the layout/placement of white goods either. But it'd be possible to get some extra. For example, an L- or P-shaped shower bath would get a nicer shower space. You'd end up with the wider part by the window though so may then also consider opaque glazing or a screen there. A concealed cistern in the back wall would bring that forward by around 10cm. If you don't want to loose all that space, a boxed-in cistern and shelves above may give you a little storage back. On the washing machine: you triggered my inner geek :-) This may be possible. You need to research a few things for this: A) a slim depth washing machine (usually 425mm) B) availability of a height reduction kit for it (if these are avail gets height down from 850mm to 800mm) C) use an extra-flat bottle trap for the basin D) partly embed that into a thin washtable (to make the surface then a total of ~100mm above the machine) If all these go together it should just be possible to fit washtable, drains, basin trap and the machine underneath into a box about 910x600x500mm (HxWxD) which is kitchen unit height. The countertop sink would sit above that. Maybe a little bit of extra space could be gained still if you'd construct a basin from a flat shower tray with an integrated trap (a Wedi fundo plano is 60mm high) but I'm not sure how to put the washing machine drain on then.
