A good electrician will be best to replace the cable to lengthen them and will guide you as to the height placement for optimum light splay in the room - without seeing it - I’d say try to leave at least 2.4m of clear space below - but also look at any beams or lower ceiling areas in the space and take into consideration shadow lines from them, dependent on where you place these lights .

also - if this is going to be a place where you are swinging kettle bells around or skipping with a rope ( a gym in other words ) then you need more clearance below !

Thanks for the feedback, there will definitely be at least 2.4m clearance. The issue is more likely to be how high is too high as the apex of the ceiling will be 4.5m.

I don't really want to pay for an adjustment on top of the cost of the fitting. So is 2.9m clearance acceptable or will it look like it's lost up there.

I find it hard to judge from vaulted ceiling photos what is the norm.

The room is also approx 5.5x5.5 and we were planning to have two of these in the room, but I'm also wondering whether one central one would be more appropriate?

I thought a drawing could help with design input. The purple is a hipped roof line, the green is a dormer window and two velux windows.

What do anyone think of one central feature chandelier vs two in line with the velux windows?

Also keen for input on size and length of chandelier suitable for the space.
