Help. Layout for tiny bedroom please.
My son sleeps in a tiny bedroom and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with layout and storage options. He currently sleeps on a camp bed under the window which fits perfectly but hes getting too big for it and needs a full size single bed. He is also really struggling for storage space for clothes and other stuff that kids have. He has a chest of drawers along the right hand wall and also has a couple of hanging rails behind the door above the radiator. He is running out of hanging space as his tops and trousers are now too long for his hanging space. But just really not sure what is possible in such a tiny space. I have looked at mid sleeper options but they all come with such rubbish furniture and he doesnt need a desk. Please does anyone have any ideas on how to make this tiny space work?

Comments (15)Hi - I agree with some of the others that you should add a wardrobe (preferably fitted) where the white unit currently is. Ideally you want somewhere for clothes but drawers underneath and probably some overhead storage as well I'd say. You say your son is a real book worm and I noticed a lot of books at the end of his bed - could you put shelves up there where the clock and cool sign is? Either regular shelves or ikea picture ledges look nice with books - that's what we used as per attached photo. Also could you get something like a long ikea Kallax (4x1) to fit under the bed? It might be too high but you can get ones from Argos that are smaller I think and with the baskets that fit in each hole they would be perfect for Lego? Comments (13)I like the idea of a day bed under the window. I really like this one by Ferm Living. I would however just ask if the fact it won't be symmetrical to the bed bother you? If it would then as said before you could have the tv over the dressing table by the entrance door. I like honeypoppets idea of the Samsung art tv and you can get dressing tables with fold away mirrors which won't block the tv and then leave the top left hand corner for a chair and table. if you want specific furniture and accessory ideas could you give an idea of styles and colours you like as you don't have any ideabooks set,up. I’d be tempted to go one step further than Sarah U-S and create a dressing area: wardrobes the full length of of the 2.44m wall, and a dividing wall of 2.44m wardrobes opposite that. The bed could back on to that divider, or have the headboard half way along the remainder of the long wall. Comments (3)How wide is the wall to the right as you come in? Would you have space for a chest either side of the bed there? And you might have room at end of the bed for a small chest. That would allow you to build in straight across the wall with the chimney breast. I have seen and done myself with a shallow press or drawers in front of the chimney. You could also hide a TV in there. Hard to imagine the window(s) but have you considered putting the bed on that wall?...See More
6 years agoAm I looking at that correctly? The door is slap bang in the middle of the wall?? That's a pain for a bed behind the door in that case isn't it?
I've always thought captains beds can be oppressive and make spaces seem smaller. But this one from IKEA seems a bit lighter because of the fully open area underneath (perhaps with a chest of drawers and a hanging rail under there?) If you go for this you'd possibly have to have a blind and live with the fact that the bed will encroach across the window
There are also plenty of midsleepers with built in storage or just regular single beds with drawers and hydraulic lifting systems for access under the whole bed.
My nephew (age 13) has a relatively spacious bedroom but nothing is hung up except his uniform on a peg rail behind the door. Everything else is folded on shelving and in drawers and his coats and jackets are downstairs.

Hi here are the photos. You can see the chest of drawers under the bed. Your room is slightly shorter so you may only get a smaller bookcase in but you have the benefit of your door being at the far end whereas as you see ours opens right onto the bed. We hang duvet covers from the bed to make a secret den beneath!

Used the dimensions of that bed and of a double Pax wardrobe (100 x 60 cm), put the wardrobe at the end of the bed, so you'll see the doors of it when you walk into the room.
Did something fun with paint, created a niche, you could even let the dark blue run along the ceiling too in the same width. Anyway... perhaps this is an option:
Don't know which way the door turns? If the door turns the other way (as I mistakingly put in the above ones), you'd have to put bed and wardrobe on the other wall if possible with the radiator.
