Hand finished kitchen or pre finished.
Comments (3)I think if you cost it out you will find that hand painting on site will bring your kitchens into a higher price point. There is also the hassle factor for the client as it will delay getting a completed project. There is also hassle for you- finding trades in different parts of the country who can consistently finish your kitchens as you would like them finished. In my humble opinion there is a price threshold where buyers want more than quality, they want a nationally recognized premium brand name and reputation and you might be better keeping your current workshop finished kitchen option but also offering a primer only option and giving the client the option of getting their own painter....See MoreFinal Kitchen layout, any suggestions on how to improve it?
Comments (17)Okay, so here are my concerns with the current layout: with no space to the other side of the sink, where will the dirty/clean dishes go. In our house, we put dirty dishes on one side and when unloading the dishwasher, put stuff that still needs to be dried off on the other side. But you may well have another system of loading/unloading. Also, items that can't go into the dishwasher need to be somewhere when dirty and then put somewhere when clean. So, in my experience a sink needs counterspace on two sides. You do need somewhere to put appliances, like the toaster/kettle, coffee machine or maybe a stand mixer? If they are behind doors that aren't pocket doors, you'll be working in a 'confined space', which doesn't seem very practical. I've been through the whole thought process recently and we've decided to do without doors in front of the breakfast counter. Very happy with that decision. I'll post pics so you can see how it looks. We also have kitchen doors that lead to the pantry behind the tall bank of cupboards. We've put the ovens above each other, because one oven we already had and the other one is new and a slightly different design. This left space for two pull out larders, one either side of the ovens. Then we have a tall freezer, tall fridge, double doors to the pantry. We also have a separate coffee corner. Hope this helps....See MoreKitchen layout advise please - final decisions????
Comments (13)I would lose the wooden counter top and pull out larder. Put the hob next door but one to the sink with an extractor above. This will break up the run of wall units. Also think about when you are cooking pasta, filling up a saucepan with water and then draining it. You don't need to cross the room. Where you going to put bin, dishwasher and microwave? I would agree you need more drawers. I love my new pan drawers they hold alot. But my pull out larder does not and things fall down the back all the time. Also when you are taking something out of the oven, where are you going to put it? I never understand why designers put oven and fridges next to one another....See MoreGOOD JOB ? Comments (18)Hi Greg, amazing job! Everything looks fab. I was wondering, did you consider pros/cons of waterproof blinds in the shower area? Like you we are nearing completion of our renovation and one of our windows is in the shower. We have opaque glass but not sure if we should have blinds too. Thanks!...See More- 6 years ago
