I love some lusciousness in my bedroom ... reds. pinks and oranges! (yes I also have lighter softer colours but like some fun thrown it too otherwise feels so boring). Am surprised that pink wasn't one of the choices! People talk a lot about serenity and seem to forget about other types of energy in the bedroom. It is said that the bedroom is mainly for 2 things both beginning with "S" and yet most people seem to only focus on the sleep bit.

Hi there.. Looks like a great project ... And a great size room.. So if the room is south facing that means light... Maybe lots of it.? So dark furniture. Light to medium walls.. Soft whites, greys maybe a follow through from what you may have existing in your home.. But some vibrant fabrics to lift the colours.. Yellow or mustard. Bright and sunny oranges, reds. This can be used in the throws, bedding, cushions. Art work.. Then whenever you fancy a change.. It's easy and not as costly.. There are lots of enthusiastic people on here, and more photos that you could ever imagine... Good luck and please may we see your results.!!

Hello Laura, Photographs of the room would help but please find our advice below. We understand that you'd like a neutral but warm scheme in this bedroom, right? Colour-wise, you can layer off-whites and taupes (warm greys) with a few slightly darker accents in the form of piping to cushions or trims to the curtains. You could add a rug under the bed to make the room more cosy too. We would not have velvet curtains but rather cotton and/or wool curtains. The ceiling should be white/off-white, the walls could be a slightly darker warm white and the skirting/woodwork could be a warm medium grey colour. Don't be scared to have a feature wall; the wallcovering could be a neutral pattern in colours not too far off your walls. We hope this helps and wish you lots of fun developing your scheme! The room is all mismatched, style wise, as you've noted! If you're planning to rent it, & be gone for a long period, do you really need to change the bed? If you are set on the industrial look, that type of bed works actually. So, maybe if it has to be bigger, just get the same style. The floor works, the wardrobe works, & the chosen lockers would too. The chandelier doesn't, so swap it for a cheap alternative. And some bedside lamps. If the bed is bigger, you'll need bigger bedlinen too, but if you're renting, they'll have their own. So, you only need a cover for staging the room for renters. Just buy a suitable duvet cover - the pretty floral doesn't work for industrial. Try something with mustard / yellow to add life to the grey. A throw & a couple of cushions, along with the bedside lamps, will help it to look more cosy. A long horizontal piece of art over the bed would make that wall less grim too. Or, you could try putting wallpaper behind & / or beside the bed - there are loads of types. Pick a stick on one that you can remove later. A white brick wall type of paper would work for industrial look, but be a lighter colour. Look at Wallpaper Direct for ideas. If no walls being touched, I know you've not much time, but could you even paint the ceiling white over the dressing table area? The room will look bigger and brighter. Right now, it seems to shrink to the size of the white ceiling area. However, the industrial loft look isn't universally appealing...! I agree that a renter might prefer a lighter, airier, relaxing fresh space. Try a linen type of headboard, not velvet. Velvet means plush etc, & your grey floorboards don't really complement that look. Linen can be crisp & clean & smart. If you're not moving from grey, pick a complementary colour - light grey, or a green - that you can match lighter bedlinen to. Or, again, a lovely wallpaper to tie in your grey banisters with new headboard colour. And paint the wardrobes to blend with the walls so they disappear. Pick lighter coloured lockers - a white table with drawer maybe. Or a floating shelf with drawer.
