I'm someone who nearly always prefers curtains to blinds, but this seems like a space where light-diffusing blinds would be a good option. You can have remote-operated ones, which could sit above the top window. Any type of curtains will still need to stack back somewhere, and there isn't room.

If you are determined to go for curtains, I would choose a single panel rather than a pair. Have you looked into ceiling-mounted curtain track? That could work.

Thanks I definitely don’t want blinds, and I’ve seen some unlined thin linen curtains on the Etsy, each of their panels are 134cm wide. Privacy for this room isn’t greatly needed so I’m not wanting lined curtains.

Ikea do some lovely lightweight curtains and, at 145cmx250cm per panel, look like they’d be a good fit to your glazed doors. We’ve recently hung a pair of Hannalill in light green at our double doors (also 160cm wide) and they look lovely - floaty and just the right fullness, and the colour is gorgeous. £19 a pair!

I wanted unfussy curtains at my patio doors stacked to one side, but we put up a curtain pole that has a bracket in the middle, like yours is I think, which stop the furthest curtain sliding across to join the other one - doh! We chose eyelet curtains as you don’t need so much fabric, so that might be an option. Although I’m not mad on tie backs, they do let more light in, so we bought these magnetic ones online that don’t need a hook to them. Curtains are usually double the width of the pole (full) or one and a half times the width of the pole for less gathering, but as long as the curtains width is more than the pole it should work.

I know you said you don’t like blinds, but I don’t think curtains are going to be very practical as they are going to be in the way of opening the door and may actually get caught in the frame.
What about Roman blinds type attached high about the doors?
Otherwise you can also find pleated bling that clips onto the windows/door frame directly and are very slim/discrete

I think you should go for a U-shaped /alcove curtain bracket so when open the curtains against the adjacent walls rather than the doors.

I second Ikea. They have some nice lightweight curtains and the width is 145cm per panel. Their lengths are generally 2.4m though and your windows/door combo looks taller than that.

I bought the Ikea Merete curtains in white (replaced rings with tape and sewed 2 sets together for more fullness). Simple, clean and lightweight.

I too second the IKEA curtains - they’re amazing value. The only issue is that they have recently changed their length. They used to be 3m long but are now 2.5m. I was gutted because my windows are somewhere in between! A couple of other places to look are La Redoute (lengths are 2.6m) and also Anthropologie. Both of these tend to sell them as single panels - so can work out expensive (particularly Anthropologie). John Lewis and Dunlem also have a small range of “extra long” curtains that are all around the 2.75m length.

I forgot to say - a few years ago when we were looking for our bay, I hunted around for shaped curtain poles that didn’t cost a fortune. I eventually found this family based company via a forum. They are called Celtic Dreams Ironworks and are based in north Wales. Their website gives full instruction of what to do to measure up. I went for a simple white pole - and it still looks brilliant. They do a U shape (option C I think) and they also do a different option that might work well - it’s basically two smaller poles that are secured just at one end that is then folded back against the wall. (I’m not explaining particularly well - but they have a couple of photo’s). Over the years, several other friends have used them, and all have been happy. They are more expensive than IKEA, however I found them to be lots cheaper than B&Q and John Lewis etc.

Don't have any thing! I decided against having curtains and love it! Means plenty of light, and in the night time I have pretty lights in the courtyard giving a nice view whatever the time of day!

I’ve put IKEA curtains up, the photo is a few replies above, really pleased with colour and how thin and floaty they are 😊
