I agree with you, it feels a bit empty.

What were you thinking, completely revamping the space or just adding some items to complete the space.

Well we have just revamped the whole house so not changing the floor or stove but open to any other changes, grey navy and pink are the colours that flow through to the open plan kitchen, the kitchen is navy

I think the colours work perfect they just need enhancing.

Here's some recommendations I have from what I can see of the space:

- In the window area, Consider two pink chairs with a side table placed in the middle. Suddenly you have a cosy area that is not over done and great for additional seating.

- A large rug to fill more space.

- Floor lamps are a simple and affordable addition.

- Replace mirror with large wall art in navy, pink and grey colouring. This could be done as one large piece of a gallery wall style.

- Accessorize coffee table with books, candles, vases etc. Or even replace with a large circle footstool, that can be used as both a footstool and coffee table.

Lovely flooring. I’m thinking a darker wall where the fireplace is would create cosiness. Navy is a good choice but I also love Inchyra Blue by F&B, a lovely deep green-blue. If you are replacing the pink chair, consider a teal one, it goes well with Inchyra or navy. The rug does look a little small. It’s usually best to have a rug large enough for the front chair legs to sit on it to anchor it. It will also increase the cosiness. To warm up the room I think some yellow will help in accessories such as cushions and throws. Here’s some ideas and in the first picture the walls are Inchyra Blue.

Definitely, especially if it’s the wall opposite where the tv is.

So u think the wall where the sofa is and not the wall where the stove is

I’ve painted all of it (including the ceiling in error 😂). I think the navy definitely helps with it feeling warmer.

what sort of panelling were you thinking of? I think it might help with that long wall, if you could use it to make the fire appear wider

I can’t find an image so I’ve just scribbled what I mean about widening the fire visually (pretend I can draw to scale!). You could then hang art/mirror in the large panel above. Personally I’d do all walls but why not start with the fire wall and see what you think?

what don’t you like about the pink chair btw? Is that definitely going and will have a look for some things

not sure if you wanted pattern for cushions, am really struggling to find nice ones as so much is out of stock 😢

id add some form of stoneware for the vase for the stems to mix up the textures

I think a 2 seater sofa would also look good as you may want to consider a chair in front of the bookcase?

maybe also add some books in the bookcase as they always give a homely feel.

I think I prefer it the other way so you don’t have 2 tv’s in the same sight line which also draws your eye to the next room plus once the tree is gone the bookcase may encroach on the bay? It’s obviously what works for you though 😊

It looks like a lovely bright room (especially as photos are always darker on here and it’s winter). Wait until you’ve got some art and see what you think then it I don’t think it’s too dark

A tall Plant will look good too once the tree is down

Hi OK so have lived with the navy and live it and am now thinking of adding panelling but because the stove is not centred I'm not sure how the panelling will look, the centre of the wall is to the right of the stove

No, will measure when I get home and add a picture with measurements, I just think it wud really add to the room but just afraid of the type I want looking wrong because of the stove being off centre

Sadly it doesn’t work out mathematically (well if my maths is right!). You obviously get left with odd sized panels either side of the fire, if you have graph paper it may be worth drawing it. I’d allow for squares c50cm and the trim 8cm (Think it worked out at 49.69 height wise).

I’ve just added this where the panelling obviously isn’t balanced around the fire. If I remember in the morning, I will add pics of my bathroom panelling although it’s not the square type. I’ve got 2 windows which aren’t completely central so there’s skinnier panelling one side of the window

I think it’s very tricky if you’re set on squares, other types maybe not quite so much. Or you could maybe look at some of the geometric modern panelling

I love the new colour! I too aren’t sure about the panelling, and I know what Ellie means about the stove not looking quite right - I think it’s the height. Is there a reason why it’s on such a high plinth? Also - is it a real woodburner? Maybe it’s the photo, but the hearth doesn’t look quite big enough for building regs.

Hi yes it's a real woodburner and is right for building reg, but not what I wanted at all, when we where refurbishing I cam home and this is the way my husband and builder had built it, it had something to do with the original fireplace that was there and I agree that it just doesn't look right but I'm stuck with it

You could just panel around the fire and the hearth like in the picture I found before (obviously extending the hearth too). 2nd obviously has a chimney breast if that was in budget.I don’t like the actual pattern of the 3rd pic but chose this due to log burner, there are some good modern examples although I would probably want to cover the hearth
