houssaon I sat with a piece of it on my floor this morning and I screamed to myself 'what am I doing , Ive got rid of an axminster for this ! ' so I went to the shop and have found a neutral brown carpet 80% wool which suits a large rug I have and should bring out the colours in my new suite , I am glad I took the rug with me because the small chair is a near match to the suite, and the rug/ chair look nice together . I was tired and stressed late last night having taken up my old carpet last night in 1 piece in case I ever thought about putting it back ! everything now happens Thursdaywhen the carpet is fit and the dining suite and lounge suite is installed Ill upload. youve asked about my style ? Im going for the stressed look ! no I want a classy look but also minimalistic due to it not being a big through lounge thanks for your comments to date ps anyone want an axminster !

Thanks. Am I right in saying you have 2 armchairs and a sofa (They're nice btw!) as I think you've rearranged the furniture? If so. Maybe 2 options but this room as big as it is seems so tricky! Mount the tv on the wall to the right of the fireplace with a console table underneath with decorative bits to disguise the tv. Add another console on the other side of the fire and hang a piece of art same size as tv. Then the sofa on the back wall by the door and the armchair in the small bay with the coffee table In the middle (and have remaining chair in front of non-bay window with a rug and small table). OR how you have it in pic 1 with the chair at rightangles to the fire but pulled a couple of feet closer to the door. The sofa also looks as if it needs to go a few ft closer to the small bay or is opposite the fire? I would then have a large console or cabinet on the back wall with a new chair in the corner. I think it maybe looks a bit odd at the moment as it's the only furniture you have in here. Once you've got pieces in on the unfurnished space etc it will look fine. Do use rugs to incorporate the space too.

Hi Katie. I do like the furniture you've chosen, as I said previously I would personally struggle to arrange furniture on a flat ŵall without corners, alcoves etc! I think it might be an idea to create a new post so others may be encouraged to respond without reading through previous comments. It may potentially work if you were to move the tv unit to the right. Have a floor lamp to the left of the unit and the chair angled in front of the lamp. Perhaps have a long piece of art or set of 2/3 to the right of the tv with maybe a plant stand or something and then the chinese cabinet. Do play around with the height of things though. I know you've looked before but I really think you need an area rug to zone the living space. Re kitchen not sure of your current thoughts but have you thought of a peninsular coming off that right ŵall within the kitchen? If you were to move the dining table perhaps a couple of accent chairs and table for the bay to keep your husband happy?!

Thank you for that - the room is quite dark as it has a conservatory on the end - at the moment very stark as you can see in these pics - the red suite is staying, there will be a new light fitting and brass/gold sockets. I have bought a huge gold mirror for the chimney breast and the runner was going directly above the fire - it's normal wallpaper roll width.
