Ha, funnily enough I tried some colours out on your walls in photoshop yesterday, which doesn't mean a thing, since it always looks different on screen, and I too thought that Ammonite worked well. Still, do try it out. Painted the skirting All White. Threw in some pattern with cushions, a framed poster will reflect light and is more interesting than a mirror (which loads of people use) and I thought that you could perhaps place a different cabinet for the TV along the wall next to the fireplace.

Agree with Sonia, Slaked Lime is a good colour, it has a tinge of grey/green/yellow which is barely detectable but it works well with many other colours. The lightest may to too pale but the second lightest could work and worth a try. Also try Skimming Stone as this also may work with your colours. Test paint on large pieces of paper and move them around, don't paint on the walls, it not only leaves unsightly thick areas of paint but it is pointless against your current colours. A large tub of trade white is a good idea to get rid of the current colour, it also creates a benchmark against which you can judge how light or dark you want the spaces.

Hi everyone, I live in a rented house and I’ve been given permission from the landlord to paint in ’neutrals’ However I have never really been a fan of grey, but this property is restricted to grey carpets which I will probably stick to as painting is my priority cost now, oh and lighting. I will start purchasing rugs later. I love pale soft and warm colours and I really need to brigten up this hallway its so depressing to see the orange I can not explain despite it being a bright happy colour. Can anyone help? Ive attached a pic of a mood board Ive put together and open for paint suggestions. I need a paint colour that wont pull too grey even though its fighting against the forces of north facing and dark grey carpet.
