Kitchen hardware!

Hi all, I am in danger of going down a very deep rabbit hole when it comes to handles for our new kitchen... I have so far sourced some which echo the stainless steel handles of the Smeg appliances we are getting, but i am worried it might be a bit overkill... Am actually wondering whether something a bit darker might be better (brass / gold)... but am I confident enough to mix metallics? I would go for black, but this isn't an option this time.

The kitchen will mainly be wimborne white, with the island and bench seating in Green Smoke... light quartz countertop, solid rustic oak floors.

Has anyone already been down this rabbit hole so I don't have to?!

Hi Hannah, I think you are right and I do not think the stainless steel hardware will do the kitchen justice. Brass on dark green units works beautifully and it will also help to give the kitchen added charm and character. This will still work with the stainless steel handles on the appliances but one thing to watch is the finish on your tap, if you are going with brass hardware then I would also go for a brass tap.

Thank you! I have done just that... despite all my previous research on boiling water taps, I've gone for one much cheaper (still pricey), so I'm hoping that will offset my preference for Dowsing and Reynolds handles I've got my eye on... You've confirmed my decision so thank you so much.

We are currently building an extension across the back of the house & will knock through to the existing kitchen & dining room (also knocking down the wall between these 2 rooms) to create an open plan L shape room for kitchen/family/dining/study zones. The kitchen will be modern shaker with light quartz worktop & integrated appliances. No sink or hob on island, just bar seating. Kitchen hardware from Armac Martin. Will have new air-con system fitted - we inherited a monster unit when we bought the house which could have been suitable for a department store! Need to think about the lighting plan to zone the spaces in separate circuits so can dim/shut down areas not in use, etc...the garden is west facing so lots of natural light after midday. No openings in roof (by choice) so require lots of layering of light...4m bifolds and 2 windows in the back wall. UFH. Flooring will be parquet style and will also be laid in playroom (door off open plan room), downstairs toilet & hall. I would also like it in the front room but husband wants carpet so may have to co promise! Need to think about the raised patio outside - hoping can reuse the York stone we already have. Totally refurbishing the utility & adding an external door. Need to redecorate eldest son's bedroom, downstairs toilet, hall, stairs & landing & lay new carpet on stairs/landing/son's bedroom. I would also like to redo the front room but think hubby would hit the roof! Watch this space....;)

Depending on what colour your kitchen hardware is, there a couple of options that would work well in a graphite kitchen. If you have white worktops and a grey kitchen, I would add another colour or texture to the stools to create another layer to the scheme. If you don't like using bold colours, you could use an interesting textured metal or wood for the stools. You could try using something similar to the silver wire stools below for a more industrial style Or wooden stools are always lovely for a more contemporary country look. I would use a lighter wood, to add contrast to the dark grey kitchen and white worktop All the best with your project

You cant know for how long the dark blue will still be around, it is trendy for some time already, and it will probably go out of style sooner or later. Vs the moles breath witch is more of a natural colour and is more likely to still work in years to come. #my opinion

I like black (we've planned black) but I think it only works with a strong colour...the overall vibe needs to be modern. Sage green is quite pale isn't it? More of a gentle modern country vibe perhaps? I would imagine the nickel would be much more suited in this instance.

I say yes to brass too! I love Dowsing and Reynolds, but can't bring myself to spend the money. I found Plank Hardware online, they do very similar stuff at more reasonable prices. https://plankhardware.com/collections/all-hardware

Haven't ordered from them yet but they are all solid brass!
