Kitchen splashback dilema

Hi, we've recently resprayed our kitchen and replaced the counter tops. We are struggling to know which splashbacks to use and wondered if anyone had some ideas? The units are Elephants Breath and the counter tops are pure white. The range cooker and extractor hob are being replaced with a stainless steel models. The kitchen doesn't have natural light but takes light from the 10 meter glass doors from the lounge. The lounge is 180' behind the kitchen. The lounge has navy sofas, a dark grey wall, cream and light grey curtains and one wall with a grey world map with orange text for things like the city names.

I would be very grateful for any splashback suggestions - and also a new kitchen rug, - the current one doesn't really match.

There are so many options for a splash back. Glass is one, or you could paint the wall with a kitchen paint to make it wipeable, or tiles. I love tiles and there has never been such a fabulous range of tiles available. I wouldn’t go too colourful, but gentle pastel shades or white would look lovely. Here’s a few ideas

Hi, Yes I think Sonia is right to go with a soft colour, especially considering the amount of light. Personal I'd go the blue to give a nice contrast with the tops and will work with the Elephants Breath.

The rug just needs to be removed :))

Hello, I guess you have a contemporary style kitchen. There are many options if you want to go for a splashback. If you have a glossy kitchen you should repeat that modern feel. You could add white, grey, yellow, red, orange but would be also useful to see some images of your kitchen. You could pick between metro or mosaic tiles, glass panel, mirror, stainless steel as well. Pity you have decided against glass in favour of tiles. We have just done our kitchen and I wanted an easy-to-clean surface for the splash back, so the rough surface of grouting around tiles, and also the indentations on some patterned tiles (which collect grease and grime) ruled them out for me! I went for glass, which the manufacturers matched exactly to the duck egg paint colour on the other walls (just gave them a product code of the paint), and although the initial outlay for the glass was expensive, the surface is so brilliant to keep clean and it looks fab as well. I Wouldn't have a rug in my kitchen, I always trip over a rug, kids too and my kids spill stuff everywhere so it couldn't stay clean. Ud sort the backsplash first, then decide on rug. Silly as it sounds, the pic on my phone looks like you have a backsplash behind the hob! The colour goes really well too.

Judging by your plan, if you’re kitchen is south facing, it’s going to be flooded with light. I tend to prefer darker colours in poorly lit places but lighter colours for sunny rooms. I’m not a big fan of grey but Ammonite is a very subtle shade and I think it would look good on the perimeter units. I fear that a darker colour people suck the life out of your bright sunny room. The island can then be any colour you like as a contrast. I feel that a whole kitchen in Pelt might be a bit too much, but the island in Pelt would look amazing. It’s a beautiful colour and would be a real talking point. Without wishing to be controversial, I think the days of the dark blue kitchen may be coming to an end. It might look dated very quickly. If Pelt is the colour that’s captured your imagination, then go for it

With the EB on furniture I’d be tempted to colour match the splash back to the worktop for simplicity - that way you can bring in different colours over time as moveable accents - plant pot - tea towel -toaster etc - and you won’t be tied to a particular colour. Looks lovely by the way !!!

I’d be looking at a match to the worktops too. So white.
