I'm sorry to say that you would be throwing good money after bad. The type of extractor you've linked to is a bathroom model. These gently extractor moist air over a period of time. technically it extracts 220m3 per hour. Even the most basic 'cheap' cooking extractors will deal with 3 times that volume and good ones will extract 6 or 7 times that volume. In real terms that would mean you need between 4 to 7 of those extractors to do the job of what a single dedicated cooking extractor could achieve. When it comes to dealing with greasy smoke filled air, then the difference between a simple ceiling extractor and a dedicated cooking extractor is the difference between a gentle streaming brook and the grand canyon.

Hi, Happy to have been of help! I have no personal experience with those 2 brands but thought it'd be wise to put a variety of price ranges so you could choose what suits your budget. If you are looking for a quality long term investment it may be worthwhile spending a little extra on the miele! With that said, sometimes the cheapest options are the quality ones (We purchased many high end electric showers with no luck but a more cheaper triton shower lasted for a good 5 years before we removed it to renovate). I agree. When we moved in to our current house the previous owners had installed a narrower hood (I think perhaps 60cm) over a 90cm range. Aesthetically we hardly noticed, though we eventually changed it for other reasons. And with your suggestion the hood would be just 5cm shorter on each side. That sort of distance is not particularly noticeable to the eye, especially once you are just living in the space and no longer thinking about each and every decision. Definitely a stainless steel hood. You'll need to think about the width of your splash back. will you go 100cm to cover the range? Or 90cm following the lines of the hood? I don't think it matters too much. But my suggestion would be that if you go with a splash back that is 100cm (w), stop tiing short of the hood, so that the difference in width compared with the hood is less noticeable.

Hi there. Looking for some related advice. We''re also ordering a new kitchen and are trying to decide on an extractor. The only issue is that the ceiling is about 3.25-3.5m high so everyone keeps telling us to have a bulkhead over the island as a ceiling mounted extractor will be inefficient otherwise (we're told a height of more than 1.5m above the hob is the maximum; ours will be about 2.2m...). We really don't want anything hanging from the ceiling over the kitchen island as it is in an open space and will ruin the whole open plan concept. Do you know of any flush ceiling mounted extractors with motors which are strong enough to work at that height? Currently looking at Falmec, Sirius and Frecan but would love to hear your suggestions.
