please help with kitchen

Hello, could someone please advise me which backsplash to choose for this small kitchen? Cabinets and worktop will be matte white and the floor will be oak laminate . My goal is to create a minimalist modern white kitchen. Also I don’t know what colour sink to choose.

Hi Justina,

White is always an excellent colour to go with for a small kitchen! There are many kinds of backsplash to choose from - glass and acrylic splashbacks will make cleaning easy and bounce light around the space. You may also consider an upstand if you'd like to add some protection to the walls without covering the walls completely. You could do this in a white to match or a light colour such as blue or grey for a minimalist and modern finish. If you are looking to or modern minimalist then your oven in centre is going to stop you achieve that look. I think you'd be better with it at the side and an eye level built in oven. And a sleek induction hob like in pic above.

Hi, please make the high quality (size) photo of your kitchen, then go to www.northlondonfloors.co.uk and click on "Room Planner" logo in the top menu. In the window that opens, click on "upload your photo". Open an acocunt with them and for something like 20€ you can upload photo of your kitchen. After that you will be able to see your kitchen with more than 100 different floors. If you need more guidance, please let me know. Regards

Hello Amanda, : )) Do you mean in the kitchen? Yes a nice idea. I like flat plate too, but really plain. Well the best way to describe how I feel about certain alterations is to tell you about someone I knew who "did up" her flat to such a degree that she literally took away all that was characterful about it.. Sometimes it's best to leave things as their patina develops over time and results in something quite special. Restoration is one thing but you can also restore the life out of something and thus diminish in certain contexts the value- and so it's good to know when to stop.. So yes, I'm firmly in the camp suggesting leave them, but of course it's entirely your choice. : ))

Hi. I mean the wall with the utility door. I see where you are going with the symmetry for the wall with the aga, but I would make that tall end unit a pantry or place for serving plates, etc. and have the integrated fridge where you currently have the wood upper cabinet. I've been looking at your Ideabook and reading the aga discussion (I'm way behind minnie!) and I see what you are trying to achieve. But none of them have the same layout. When the feature aga corbel wall exists, it doesn't have an induction hob right next to it or it doesn't have a solid wall at the end (one of them is amazing with their deep cupboards either side but there is nowhere to put anything!). Do you have roof lights over the kitchen? Unless you have a giant lantern skylight and lots of under-cabinet lighting planned, please don't have black countertops. Apart from the fact that none of the kitchens in your Ideabook have dark counters, I come from a place of experience. I used to have a massive, terribly planned, kitchen with lovely black granite counters. Not only could only one person work in it even though it was the size of a dance floor, but the lights had to be on all the time and it was really depressing. And as there will be a dining table nearby to take in your beautiful garden, the island perches will be there to keep the cook(s) company, so facing in on the kitchen is perfect.

Should I have a light over dining table? Hello Houzzers, Can you advise please? Our kitchen extension is nearing the end of our building work phase and I need to decide on final lighting positions. It is a very big space so we are having an island with obligatory 3 pendant lights over. We will also have a dining table in the garden room end of the build. The electrician has left wires for a pendant light to go over the table but needs the final position before ceiling is plastered. Now I'm thinking that having a light will limit where we can put the table, eg if we want to move it in the future and also, (as I've not even thought about table size or bought one yet) its difficult at the moment to give a definitive position for the light. The kitchen is about 3weeks away from being fitted. So should I ditch the idea of a light over dining table?? Thanks in advance for your help!

Oh I wish, but how you see my kitchen is too small to put oven an eye level. Is no space for it.
