colour scheme help for open plan kitchen/living area
Comments (3)It's an awkward one as a lot of the kitchen is in the dining area, and the space that you don't want to have a table & chairs is opposite the sink. You could put one of the armchairs there. Keep the sofa where one is at the moment. You could go for a darker cognac leather or dark grey. Grey tones go with the brick. A nice bright rug would look good, but I'd keep the walls light and airy as they are now. In order to place something like this arrangement, you will have an armchair near to the sink. Although the kitchen is lovely...........If you ever have the budget, i'd consider moving the kitchen around. Change the island possibly for a smaller one and turn the side run of units along the left hand wall to across the room for 'U' Shape, giving you a much better sofa / lounge area....See Morebedroom colour scheme help
Comments (7)I think painting the wall behind the bed head, the same colour as the darker plum shade on bedspread, would help pull the room together and make it cosier. Then changing the lampshades to a pale plum, the same as secondary bedspread colour. Then a single painting or mirror with a gilt frame....See MoreColour scheme help needed
Comments (14)amy, I think the grey floors can work, light walls will provide the reflectivity needed as floors do provide light, but not anywhere as important as wall surfaces. you can use different shades of colournbetwen the two areas , so lighter and darker shades of a colour will work well. I personally like to have skrtings, archtraves and doors in the same colour as it gives a strong uniform theme. There are paints with a metallic finish around which can give a nice finish as well as the usual F&B paints that everyone loves. check out Eico paints for a different palette of colour including some.metallics or Mylands for some great traditional paint with good colours. good luck with your choices, we all start somewhere and I'm sure you will soon become an expert !! best Rowland...See MoreFarrow & Ball Railings shaker kitchen colour scheme help!
Comments (23)Hi Poppy, Regarding the mantle shelf, they are usually painted the same as the furniture, so it connects everything. I understand to think of it, its seems like a stripe but it does work. Also to help with the dark kitchen cabinets, you definitely need a colour to add the depth and give balance. White will be too stark I would think and as another option to the Purbeck direction, you could try something like Skylight that works amazingly well with Railings Good luck and post a picture of what you choose....See MoreLou Rogers
