Hey, that's an interesting question and often people don't realise how tricky the wall panels could be! I'd install the paneling along the whole wall horizontally and up to where your paint samples start vertically. In terms of the paint choice, the lighter colours will give you a better contrast against the bed upholstery fabric. Hope that helps :)

How about one big one?

There doesnt look to be enough space between the bed/wall and cabinets to outline the 3 pieces of furniture? personally id consider a different style but try drawing the style you want on the wall first (would recommend that anyway!)

I do like the bigger version but think it would look better if you push it down so that it starts from behind the chests of drawers to anchor all the pieces of furniture and make a bold statement x

That’s helpful feedback everyone. I’m thinking perhaps not enough room to delineate furniture. I had in mind the hotel room vibe but the big panel might work better

We have a 3 panel feature in our sitting room with a larger panel in the centre which I think may work well. Hope this helps.

That looks fantastic and is the same colour I was thinking about too. Did you plan the size by pictures or furniture that you wanted to frame or just by the dimensions of the wall?

Must admit, we had help from LT Designs (on Houzz). Essentially, it was based on the wall dimensions. They used masking tape to show us the outlines and check that we were happy first. This was really useful. A similar pattern was done on the other wall. It looks like there is 2:1 ratio for the big one in the centre but can check this evening if that’s helpful? It also helped that there were originally picture/dado rails which we put back to keep with the Edwardian period.

I think you could do a two flanking a giant one to pick out the furniture, maybe like this:

Uses the first three colour tests on the wall and some antiqued mirror infill for the sides, you could even incorporate LED strip lighting into the panel Beeding to breath a gentle mood light onto the wall and mirrors?

The light switch could be easily dealt with, if you're laying panelling onto the wall just make sure its about the same thickness as the switch and its cut to fit flush around it, you can then paint the fitting to match, leave as is or change it to a stylish one to match the room.

You can even do the mirror ageing yourself with acrylic mirrors at home.

you could also do it without mirrors, but if you're going for the hotel feel the mirrors make it look really good.

This is what I have been thinking about - long panels either side but have been talking to my decorator and we have an issue with the light switch and plug sockets being bang in the middle of the edge of the thinner side panels so would be ridiculously thin. I’ll post a picture of the masked up plan. I’m hoping I don’t have to ditch the idea as would rather not move electricals!

Liking the idea of strip LED lighting… might push my decorator over the edge tho 😂
