Hallway Help!!!!

Would like some help with my hallway please. We’ve just removed the radiator cover as it looked too bulky in our hallway but not sure what to do now. It all just seems abit plain. We’ve added a mirror… we thought about swapping the radiator, maybe adding a shelf above it? The quarry tiles I don’t know whether to keep or cover over.. I’d like to paint the hallway as well but not sure what colour would go with the red quarry tiles? Help please! Any suggestions would be brilliant!

I think if you were to put a shelf over the radiator and put some ornaments and/or pictures on it then it would make all the difference.

I would swap the radiator for a flat panel style which disappears into the wall. Sadly hall radiators become a dumping ground for wet hats & gloves in winter. I have lived with red quarry tiles in a large enclosed porch. They seemed to suck the light out of the area. Changing the flooring made such a difference

To me this hallway is screaming out for some dado rail height panelling, I would run this all through and up the stairs and, as the stained glass seems to be consistent throughout, pick a colour from this, i.e. a light green to paint the panelling. Then a nice light but bold print wallpaper above the panelling would look really nice. The staircase is a nice example but needs a bit of cosmetic work to tidy it up and a new lampshade and this hallway could look great!

I think some sort of wall storage for the shoes/slippers will help. Getting them off the floor should increase the sense of floor space. Or if you’re feeling adventurous you could make a radiator cabinet that incorporates storage as well.

Your hallway is beautiful, but I understand the dark issue! It has made me think about a couple of instagram people that I follow... The first is semi_in_suburbia who had a similar dark hallway and has since painted it. Beautiful floor. Dunelm do an amazing range of rugs and runners. John Lewis do too and they do budget ones up to gorgeous oriental rugs. There are also a lot of online rug sellers too but it’s easier to return a rug if it’s one of the High Street stores, I feel. Jute rugs are quite plain and may do the job? Here’s some ideas. All from Dunelm except the second one.

I agree that an 'over the radiator' table or shelf would look lovely, although I think your radiator would look lovely if it were changed to a 2 column old school style one personally, in white. Then a shelf or radiator table over it (as in the photos added by the previous poster). Then some accessories by the ever stylish Kelly Hoppen and a plant, and it will look great. Good mirror by the way.

Could you put a rug or long runner on the floor? Personally I don’t like quarry tiles, although lots of people like the ‘rustic’ nature of them. They seem a bit utilitarian rather than warm & welcoming for a hallway to me. They also look a bit at odds with the colour / style you have.
