Hi, What a beautiful place! Makes me jealous! ^_^ What would you think about using a combination of 2 small ethnic side tables? One in wood to bring a warm touch and one metallic to compliment your tray and your metallic cushions? Attached are 2 from Maisons du Monde. And I think those would look gorgeous with this delicate floor lamp from Habitat... I agree with jwinnyc, it would be awkward to have them under the TV, but I think they would look perfect on the left side of your sofa. On the right side, what about 2 more baskets where you could put magazines, throws... ? The one you already have there is giving a lovely natural touch, but it feels a bit lonely. You could also add a medium sized plant..

I like the look of the hanging pendant lights but do think it will be a passing trend. Not least because of the practicality issue of non-directional light that you've already mentioned. I used wall lights in the spare bedroom to save surface space on the small bedside tables. They're only cheap £16 ones from IKEA but I think they look nice all the same and they swivel so you can use them directionally. We needed plug in ones which limited our options but I covered the white wire in grey electrical tape to help it blend with the wall colour. Adele, I agree with Ellie and that a standing lamp would be better with a plant on that table. You say that your dining chairs are 'burnt orange' but the one in the photo looks rather like a shade of brown. These physalis (Chinese lanterns) are closer to burnt orange to me... The lamps are too 'orange' but impressive. Ikea do one (that I have) but it's only available in charcoal grey...

So, after a weekend of debate, we’ve gone for the Anderson bedside table from made.com. While I loved the round idea, I couldn’t justify the expense of the Penelope when there are some many other things to get done. I’d seen the Anderson months ago and loved it, so thank you for the reminder! Now for lamps… we’re going to wait until the tables are in before we decide 👍. Thanks Minnie and Sharon!
