Hi HU-209277437, I am slightly biased ( working for bORA) but our recirc systems are very good !!! we are selling much more recirc systems now compared to ducted....which shows that our dealers & customers are very happy withh them.

I have a Siemens version of the same and mine is just as good as an overhead extractor, the fact it’s recirculating seems to make no difference to the power, and it’s the quietest extractor I have ever had.

Having the extra carbon filter fitted to convert an extractor to recirculating mode makes very little difference to the power/efficiency of any extractor, but you have to change the carbon filter as required so you do have a small extra cost (as opposed to a grease filter which is usually washable). But extraction is also governed by building regs part F and if its a kitchen extension you may have to add further ventilation (minimum 60 lit/sec), if its a refurbishment so long as you only had a recirculating extractor previously and the ventilation hasn't been made worse then a recirculating extractor is all thats required.

(just make sure BC are happy with the set up - extraction should be as good as or better than what you had before in UK at time of posting )
