Render removal - extension issues

I'm really hoping one of you can come up with a really genius solution for the exterior of our house!
So...we have 1700s farmhouse with a first floor extension to the rear dating 1989 and a ground floor extension to the front dating 2010. The house is completely cement rendered which is causing damp issues as it can't breathe. We'd ideally like to remove all the render and take it back to brick (repoint and repair) but we have no idea what to do about the extensions as we assume they will be breeze blocks!
We are currently thinking of two routes to take to help the damp issues, both depend on cost.
1. Remove all render and restore the whole building to brick. But unsure what to do about the extensions.
2. Remove render up to 1.5m and repoint/repair exposed brick to allow the base of the house to breathe. Again we worry this will look weird against the extension where we can't remove the render at the bottom. At the moment we're likely to go with this option due to cost.
We've considered wood cladding the extension and brick faces. But not sure how that would look or if at all possible.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
I've included photos of the house, the red circled areas are the extensions.
