Any ideas on the best way to add an ensuite and dressing area to this bedroom please? Need min 3 x double wardrobe hanging, plus room for drawers and shoes etc.

It’s a ground floor bungalow and looking to extend out where the yellow X is.

Also struggling with bedroom layout. Ideally wanted the bed (king size) to sit centrally in front of the floor to ceiling windows in the bay (which are marked yellow) but can’t seem to make it work.

Hi Rach, thank your for posting!

I suggest you place your bed where the yellow x is, the reasons why I don't suggest placing your bed in the wall opposite to your bay windows is because, firstly, I doesn't look very nice to open your door and first thing you see is the bed and secondly, because as you said it won't be central to the bay window.

In terms of storage, I could suggest having an ottoman bench below your bay windows for more storage or for your shoes.

the wall opposite to your bay windows could be used to have a big wardrobe as you desire.

In terms of having an en-suite, I would need to see a floor plan to give you my suggestion.

The attic internal walls are not built so can be arranged in any position. The windows can also be moved. Here is the first floor layout.

Thanks, Jonathan. Your suggestion is excellent so thanks for taking the time to put that together. The walk-in wardrobe and en-suite would be luxurious, and it's great to have some hallway storage but we weren't that keen on such a small back bedroom (it could be a maximum of about c.3.4m x 2m, by my estimates, due to where the soil stack is, 30cm to the west of the current bathroom window). However, it got us thinking. A third toilet (particularly a WC) would be handy as both me and my wife work from home and would have, COVID allowing, clients visiting regularly. I came up with this spin-off from your design and wondered what you thought. What do you think of this? Is there another way to make the 2 other bedrooms double rooms?

It is, indeed, a good sized room! I’d be tempted to go one step further than Sarah U-S and create a dressing area: wardrobes the full length of of the 2.44m wall, and a dividing wall of 2.44m wardrobes opposite that. The bed could back on to that divider, or have the headboard half way along the remainder of the long wall. And there’s still probably space for a little reading nook in the acute angle?

Thank Isla and Siobhan for your valuable insights, I am going to scrap the wardrobe, sorry I forgot to mention in the first post. We will be building/ buying new wardrobe in few months time, first we need to make sure that we have a good design in place before we think of wardrobe / storage options. office desk , bed and bed side tables will be the same, as we don’t want to change them we kind love them . It’s just that the bed is super king which consumes a lot of space in the room. Is it wrong to put the bed in the same side of the door wall as it is now . I am thinking of two options one - just infront of the big window which will cover most of the window, another one - put my bed where my desk is right now and move the desk to the windows‘ side. @Isla the TV bracket is not swivel unfortunately
