Master bedroom layout options please

Can someone please help me with some design/ layout option for my master bedroom, it’s a good size bedroom, the main confusions are where we put our bed which has a good size headboard , also wardrobe and a work table . Please refer the plan given below.

The americans would probably place the bed under the large window on the short wall with a view of the door. I would place the bed against the wall opposite the door with the window to the righthand side. I would use the window end for low storage maybe all the way around. That would also be a great end for a desk because of the light. I use a lot of feng shui principles when possible. The desk would have the window behind it and be facing the door or sideways always with a view of the door. Not angled against a corner. There is a lot of information which I do not have which would further influence the placement of furniture.

Just a thought, what about putting the bed against the wall of the walk in wardrobe and you can still have your headboard, no need to change or move a radiator and the wife's side of the bed would be next to the wardrobe entrance. It's all a bit cramped by the looks of things and while you'll have your ensuite and your walkin wardrobe you'll still be walking into a box room. Another thought I had to to lose the bedside cabinets and increase the appearance of space would be in to have the bed side lights on the partition wall and the storage built into the stud wall with pull out shelves for those breakfast in bed moments and cups of tea. Change the door to open onto your landing as well!!! Good luck

Ok, this is a great space so easy to fix. People might give you specific advice but really it depends on your taste. There are 3 important things you are lacking that will fix your room - zoning, texture and lighting. zoning - if you can walk into a room and read it immediately it translate as boring. To fix this you need to draw the eye around the room. You can use furniture, art, points of interest to do this. Perhaps a cool chair outside the bathroom door or a chaise lounge. Perhaps a big banana plant or fiddle fig between your windows. Perhaps a huge piece of art above the bed. Perhaps some cool wallpaper art there (check out Curious Egg). A reading nook? How about filling that massive space between the end of your bed and wardrobes? You could put a huge pouffe, love seat or ottoman on a rug there so it looks a bit like a dressing room area with seating. Anthropologie do some great options. texture - you need a huge rug to go partially under your bed and soften the room. Try French connection home or la redoute for affordable options. Why not texturise the wall your bed is against. Do the whole wall or a textured headboard made of timber etc. Abigail ahern does some great, easy to assemble faux wall options. Again I would recommend plants. Not everyone likes these I need a bedroom but again Abigail ahern does some great fauxs. lighting - the room is very light and bright but at night it probably can look a bit stark or cold. I would definitely advocate some free standing lights. These should be near whatever zones you create. Certainly I would have some bedside lamps and maybe a taller freestanding lamp elsewhere. Rule of thumb in a room this size is at least 5 lamps or freestanding lighting units! finally, if you like neutrals and want to avoid colour, neutral colour through texture is a great solution. A beni oudain rug, a large sheepskin over the bottom of the bed, a large wicker chair. And of course, plants. good luck!

You need to consider lots of things when designing overall floor layouts - walkway space, where the sun comes in from, how many inhabitants live here and how many likely guests etc - your kitchen dining for example doesn’t look to have enough walkway space around it and looks too small for six as you’d be overlapping plate space etc etc For projects like this, if you plan to live here some time, it’s worth booking a pro ( like a concept planner ) to either check things through with you, ie working with you to get things right - taking on board all of the info available and coming up with a viable safe design. If this is just a house flip then what ever you do will probably be redone by new owners anyway, so not so important !

After taking a look at the floorplan options you've attached, we think that option A works well with where the bed is positioned. We would recommend opting for large bedside tables as this will help create a balance with the bed being a super king. You may find that option B almost creates a corridor effect on the right hand side meaning you are loosing quite a large wall that may have been useful. What is the length of your bed? Is it a decent distance when walking past it to the deeper window? I love your berber style rug and the picture shelves over the windows. Very original. This doesn't have to be an all or nothing solurion. Try your desk up the other side near the windows if you can get past the bed easily. I think you have already utilised the size of the room pretty well. As you have full height wardrobes there is only really one place for them and that is where they are currently situated. Looking at it again maybe try your bed against the long window at the end as this will give you more space for the other functions you wish to include. You will need a good blackout blind though. Is your tv on a bracket that swivels?

I’m sorry to say that the bed and amount of furniture is making it very difficult. I would change the bed to a divan with a headboard but no baseboard if budget allows. Place the bed on the wall opposite the door but away from the window on that wall. Bedside lockers each side and place the desk in front of the window. Wardrobe in the wall as you come

I agree with Siobhan. At first I just saw the floorplan but now I think the room and your existing furniture combined with the 3 window arrangement is giving you very few layout options. Could you not move your desk and working arrangement to another room?

Thank Isla and Siobhan for your valuable insights, I am going to scrap the wardrobe, sorry I forgot to mention in the first post. We will be building/ buying new wardrobe in few months time, first we need to make sure that we have a good design in place before we think of wardrobe / storage options. office desk , bed and bed side tables will be the same, as we don’t want to change them we kind love them . It’s just that the bed is super king which consumes a lot of space in the room. Is it wrong to put the bed in the same side of the door wall as it is now . I am thinking of two options one - just infront of the big window which will cover most of the window, another one - put my bed where my desk is right now and move the desk to the windows‘ side.
@Isla the TV bracket is not swivel unfortunately

Tried a couple layouts and i seems the current one works best and gives you the most open floorspace. Might look into a wardrobe that completely covers the chimney, with side panel. When rotating the bed, it blocks both window and radiator. And with the bed next to the wardrobe, you'd have to get rid of the nightstands. Neither are optimal.

I think you would work better at the light end with all the windows. Much better to see out than be facing a wall. It's too much furniture for the space.
