Open plan - wall paint

please can you shar your thoughts on wall paint - the si open plan living with kitchen dining and living area.

trying to create zones

Woul you

1. put a different paint in piano zone?

2. different paint colour in dining zone?

If kitchen is going to be white with dark Slate Grey tall units/ Island, what colour scheme would oyou nsider for walls?

This is a great family space. I wouldn’t use paint to zone the room but, like in you have in the 3D image, zone with the furniture arrangements and rugs. I would merge the seating and piano into 1, with a large rug to define, centralise the seating area and widen as the chairs are currently interrupting the Flow. Put the piano on the wall beside the smaller door with enough room for a stool and circulation. For colour, introduce lots of low maintenance plants, cushions, paintings.

Or shall I put piano between 2 sofas? To integrate it?

I would select one or two colours max (complimentary colours are easier to work with) and then combine this with more natural or neutral finishes so either woods, stone, white or grey (cold grey will look generally more contemporary or warm greys will be a bit more comforting)

I think it would look great open plan and make the dining room lighter and the kitchen bigger. I'd build a wall from wc to hallway and make that the new utility room and keep the wc where it is. I'd then move the kitchen into the dining room, knock out all the hallway doors for a dining room table and have some sofas in your sun room (remove current utility room wall too)

I have Timeless (Dulux I believe) in a lot of my rooms. I am no expert but colour seems to look the same in the room that faces North as it does in the rooms that face West and South. I think it looks very similar to your photo and I have been very pleased with it. Some of my rooms also have the ceilings painted in it if there is no coving. If you are getting samples of the others suggested you may want to get a sample of this too.

It depends on how the piano is used. If it’s a dust collector between rare practice 🙃, then off to the side but if you have music sessions regularly then maybe a more central position is warranted.
