Hellooo, You've got quite a mission on your hands! I've abstractly segmented the space based on your notes above. I do think you should extend the porch to house a smaller utility/storage room with a separate w/c. I've popped your potential dining area at the end of the kitchen, I find it so lovely when you get to have your breakfast, lunch or dinner with a view. I propose you do knock the existing utility space down to house your new living room. It'll be a cosy retreat at the end of the day. I'm also suggesting you get a wall built between the living & kitchen areas, so you have a more wrap-around kitchen style. Yes, the family room may not be large enough for its traffic line. Could you go without the downstairs bed+bath? This opens up the family room, separate laundry/office and a wc. (And perhaps make peace with the circle, plenty home have it, even the smaller ones.) Also consider a bit of kitchen rejig, as the kitchen walkway could be open when all appliances are in the U-shape.

Hi Jemma, I think you have a number of different options but fist of all, do you know how long your garden is? and what size extension you want to add? How much garden space are you willing to lose? You have a great space which gives lots of options for re-confirguring the layout. You could opt to square off the back of the house and re-configure the current playroom/kitchen/dining room space. This would keep your living room and you'd have a good size utility by converting the store room. I would consider how you feel about open-plan living. Do you want any additional separate areas? What do you want to achieve out of the space, in terms of family ilfe/use etc. All these types of questions will help get you to a floor plan that suits your lifestyle.
