Personally I think you should take up the patio and put it where the sun shines!!!!

In my opinion the narrow part of the garden looks narrower because it is cut in half by the path and so if that area were mainly patio you wouldn’t need the path, you would be sitting in the sunniest part of the garden and if you put borders near the kitchen window you could create a kitchen garden here.

It seems like the planned shed is going to be in a prime situation- if you put it near the path at the side of the house would it be seen from the house?

And perhaps if you are putting the patio at the slimmer art of the garden you may like a pergola for privacy

Thanks Jonathan. You've raised a good point; I've never thought of putting planting by the house but it makes sense if we're flipping the garden. 

Unfortunately I can't think of anywhere else to put the shed without it being an eye sore and we can't get away without one as the garage has been converted. Maybe I should look into a small summer house though - could be more attractive ᾓ7

Agree with Jonathan,would put your patio at the end in the sun, reuse some of your slabs and decking if you can to keep costs down. Would also put a long but slim shed on your current slabs (ready made base) along fence near back door, maybe something like a bike shed may be big enough and they aren't so expensive. You can grow lots of veg in shade and some fruit bushes, so a couple of raised beds both sides near the house (easier to maintain and pick)to frame the rest of your garden, and raised beds full of produce look good too. Stepping stone paths are quite nice and use less materials so cheaper, so if there's any slabs left over you could reuse them. Finally, please keep us posted with whatever you do with your garden!

Stain the fences black to make them recede and plant climbing plants up them. Put a raised bed in front of the decking to give you something to look at from the sitting room and also back to the house from the new patio at the narrow end.
