Thanks, Bev. We designed and specified the materials, got carpenter to make the frame (and hang!), a glass supplier to measure and supply the glazing and an architectural ironworker to handmake the handles (but you could sibstitute commercially available handles). Any good glass supplier should be able to make the doors if you tell them the hinges you want and say where you want the holes for the handles. I think our gap is around 8ft so design would have to be scaled down. Issues to consider would be type of hinge: opening only one way, both ways and/or if enough space, opening right back on itself as per the bifolds in earlier post). If not fully opening back, plain unframed glass can be a bit of a hazard as you can walk into it. ii) single door or matching pair (symmetrical pair look much easier on the eye but if scaled down you may find you can't walk through half with a tray and need to open both sides which can be a pain. Probably best to scale down the side panels first and go from there. I'd put up with the pain for the looks but others wouldn't! I agree that the clear glass look would look good in your contemporary surroundings, but so would the Crittall and the Japanese screen in other posts. Hope your final choice works out well for you :)

Hi Ellen, We went with a very similar style but from a local company called Unfitted who handmade all their kitchens. We're having the units in a dark inky blue (Como from Zoffany) and a grey / white Quartz top. I can't share a pic yet as it's only being fitted later this month after all our building work is finished but here are some renders from our brilliant designer who helped us pull it all together from the ideas I liked (lots from Blakes!) to actually getting everything ordered and scheduled.

Thanks all - unfortunately I can’t steel any space as I’m actually reducing the size a bit and giving back a proportion of some previously stolen space! The room is about 2.2m x 2m, so in theory plenty big enough for bath, vanity and wc. The problem is a sash window which we can’t place anything beneath because it’s quite low. Luckily the plumber has squeezed every cm from the available space and we are now just short of 20cm between the edge of the toilet seat and the bath. I know it’s not ideal, however we’ve mocked it up and I think it might work!

Hello, was your extension completed recently? Just say to your builder you are not happy with the way the tile has been cut and finished and ask them to re-cut it so that it covers the whole gap. I also had a similar issue...well all roof tiles were originally fine, then the plumber had to go on to roof, on the way down he cracked a tile, so I told the builder, he sent someone round to replace tile. I checked the work and it looked fine, then when they left, I had another look and they cracked the same tile they replaced on the way down! So they came back do replace again, only this this time they didn’t cut the tile very well and left a gap like yours ( slightly bigger too ), so they need to come back and fix it again. I haven’t had any leaks yet but I can’t stand slap dash work.
