Is the trend/desire still to have a kitchen diner or separate rooms? Debating whether to knock through our galley kitchen which is adequate for 2 of us or not. Thank you
I did just that several years ago. My 1930s house had the teeniest kitchen ever, so we knocked through to the dining room and created a much nicer space. It’s not huge but it suits us. The wall was not load bearing and my husband removed it. We had a budget kitchen installed as well as new electrics, flooring and tiles. We blocked in the back door as we already had sliding doors and use them. Also installed a new kitchen window. This was 12 years ago and the whole thing, kitchen and all, cost £13,000. Obviously it would be more now. Although it’s not the huge open plan kitchen some people have, we love it.
