Definitely not yellow yes more Taupe

You are lucky with the lovely light you have. How about Egyptian Cotton? It is more taupe than off white but I think it would look great.

I know what you mean about trying lots of colours! We had so many testers before we decided on our bedroom wall colour recently. Have you looked at the Dulux Heritage range. They have some lovely pale colours which aren’t actually white. We did our room in pale nutmeg which goes really well with the oak skirtings and helps keep the room bright. Might be worth a look? Lovely staircase btw.

Hi Angie, I am only considering heritage colours.. just trying to find the right one as don't want hints if grey. Just hints of taupe.

Egyptian cotton is too dark for my hallway I think. I want it to be more subtle than that.

Looked on Dulux website and you can click on a colour and it will show it in a room. You may already know this of course! These two shades are from the Heritage range and look very similar, although getting some sample pots will give you a better idea of colour.

We used Flax Seed on our bedroom ceiling. Very pleased with it. However, we found the Visualizer gave a very different colour to the test pots.

Last year we used Dulux Rum Caramel 5 on the walls in our bright South facing living room, it looks a very pale shade of stone. But it looks more taupe in one of the North facing bedrooms and in the windowless hallway. We were keen to move away from white with a hint of grey which is what was on every single wall when we moved in. We wanted more warmth on the walls after living with that for a while! Our floors and doors are oak and I think it goes well.
