Wow never seen that happen before. Is it paste the paper, or paste the wall?

Hi Sarah - me either and it was *whispers* £195 a roll 😩.... A friend asked if I'd used cake mix instead of wallpaper paste lol. I had decorators put it up - I wasn't watching, so not sure if they had pasted the paper vs pasted the wall? If that makes a difference? I also had decorators come back a few weeks ago to do touch-up paste on the edges as I could see it started to shrink. Another friend asked if the room gets a lot of sun? Maybe that had dried it up? I'm just trying to decide whether to see if it can be fixed or just paint the wall instead?

Found it online, it is paste the wall paper. They need a different paste to the traditional paste the paper method. I can only imagine the paste started to dry out before the paper was hung, assuming the walls were properly prepared beforehand.

That's another question - I've had walls plastered throughout the house, but did they need something else before being papered - my home office is also a newly plastered wall and thankfully paper is still up 🤞🏻bit of a mystery...

If your newly plastered walls weren't given enough time to fully dry and/or not primed, they would soak up the moisture from the paste. If your paper started to shrink, that would suggest that the paper was pasted rather than the wall. I'd get your decorators back to do a proper job. Hopefully the paper will come away from the wall cleanly. Good luck.

As you have paid a professional to put up the wallpaper, I think you really need to get them back to sort it. Just politely contact them, with photos, and ask them to correct it. I’ve never seen anything like it.
