A trend that should end
Comments (1300)For me it’s maximalism. Lovely in a quirky cafe or boutique hotel but at home it would give me a headache. I like a restful house and so yes quite a lot of it is grey! Not battleship grey or anthracite but bluey or greeny greys. Concrete floors. Depressing, cold, ecologically not great, look unfinished. Plants very high up. How do you water them? Walk in wardrobes even if it means the bedroom becomes tiny. I’d rather have a bigger bedroom with wardrobes in it, than dress and sleep in tiny spaces. Uber industrial. There’s a reason we usually hide cables, conduits, vent ducts...because they are ugly. Buying new furniture and accessories very often to have an “up to date“ look. I see all these instagram pictures with everything brass, mid century, wood, rattan, green (today’s trends) and I wonder what has happened to all their grey, painted, silver, shabby chic items from 5/10 years ago. And what will they do with today’s items when the look swings round again......See MoreHelp please "bay window headache"
Comments (8)When I first saw your post I was using my phone; having now looked at your photo on my laptop I can see that my bay is a bit different to yours! The shutters were around £1200 (can't be more accurate as I was having some blinds from the supplier as well so did a bit of a deal). The order time was 12 weeks but they were actually fitted in 10. The room is east facing and I love the way the light comes through the shutters in the mornings....See MoreSofa colour, blue, red, mustard or pink
Comments (7)I think a neutral sofa is a good choice. Navy is actually quite a neutral shade that will go with so many colours. I also like charcoal grey, and let’s not knock a cream or beige sofa! I agree that it’s best to base a rooms decor around the most expensive item and work from there. I think you will tire of a bright pink sofa. I fell in love with a bright red sofa once, but came to my senses and bought a more neutral one! So glad I did. How about a range of pink cushions on a navy/grey sofa? Or pick , say, the mustard yellow in the rug and get cushions to match? A rug would ideally be one of the final purchases to pull it all together. However, you may find the rug will fit in well with a new neutral sofa, so don’t discard it yet. I love a jazzy rug and it has that trendy vintage look. Here’s some ideas. Comments (11)@OnePlan (Concept planners) originally we were planning to go for 20mm, the hob is too deep, but now I'm considering switching to a lower profile hob or going for a thicker counter to get over these headaches. Thanks for your input....See More- 3 years ago
