Replacing missing kitchen floor tiles

Hi. We're knocking through our kitchen into the living room but have missing tiles where the passageway will be.
I've scoured the web to find similar tiles and only found something similar looking but at a smaller size. I feel it would look odd having two different sized tiles next to each other in just one part of the kitchen and was wondering whether putting down a thin line of blue mosaic tiles in between would improve the look?
Or go for something completely different? I would rather not draw attention to it if possible...

I don't think colour is the issue, it's tone that is lacking. Convert the image to black and white and it will look a bit insipid. The bank of cupboards where the fridge is would have benefited form being a dark colour, the pendants are nice but need to be much lower and the wall cupboards look a little high with gaps. I actually think the rug works well and would add more things with character. The splash back would have been more dramatic if perhaps teal tiles were used instead of glass.

Oh another you were worried about breakfast bar behind hob. We have separate dining room so this is really for simple breakfast and lunch. My family won't eat while I am cooking as I make dinner and then ask them to come. I am just thinking that I don't have much prep space between sink and hob. May be this is what you were worried about.... Errrr awkward sized Kitchen. Need wow!!! also need practicality?????

I think you should ask the tiler for his advice! If the kitchen has not already been fitted I personally think you would be crazy not to tile the floor first. You've already highlighted the biggest problems with doing it after the units have been fitted regarding the moving of appliances. I have to suspect that your kitchen fitter just wants to get on with the job, get paid and get out, leaving the tiler to cut and lay tiles in a more difficult situation (at more time and more cost to you).

Ok - so we all have different appreciations for different things... personally I love a patterned floor tile and I also love the mellow calm of wood as well ... do you want a calm warm space that relaxes you or a jazzy interesting space that rev’s you up for the day ahead ? As these changes change the mood of the place, as well as the look.
