Kitchen designer advice required - changing the use of rooms
Comments (2)Thank you Jonathan, I had considered using the current kitchen as a dining area and putting the utility in the cellar (where it is currently). We still need help working out the best kitchen design for the space though. I’m worried the doorway cuts into the middle of the space and leaves a lot of the room to be used essentially as a corridor to the dining room. I’ve looked at so many photos of kitchens but can’t find anything similar in size and shape....See MoreKitchen Design Advice
Comments (8)Personally I don’t like this layout for several reasons. The main one is that the peninsula cuts the room into two narrow halves- in my opinion the remaining 2.4m on the far side of the peninsula is not big enough to be a dining area. I suspect this is the reason your kitchen designer hasn’t drawn in a dining table and chairs. I also think the main working area in any kitchen is the area between the kitchen and sink and in this kitchen it’s tight. I wonder if the wine chiller would be better elsewhere so that there is more storage around the hob. Perhaps it could go near a wall cabinet where the wine glasses are....See MoreKitchen design advice please ? Is it too crowded ?
Comments (33)I think a peninsula seems to work well, hv a think about an induction hob with an integral extractor, they aren't cheap but you then don't hv that visual distraction of the extractor fan. Also think about having your wall units the same colour as your walls so they disappear. Think carefully about the hob or sink on the island, you can lose a lot of socialising space with them on the island/peninsula...See MoreKitchen design advice
Comments (4)The waste disposal fits under the sink and as long as the disposal height fits in the sink base unit then you can fit one. You'll also need an extended sink flange for the disposal unit due to the thickness of the sink and the sink waste outlets have to be large enough (90mm) for the flange to fit. Have a look at the insinkerator website https://insinkerator.emerson.com/en-gb/food-waste-disposers where they recommend their evolution range for ceramic sinks as there's less vibration....See MoreKate Fitzpatrick
