Kitchen layout for side return extension help

Finally got planning past with some changes, needed a cut out and a sloped roof to one side of the extension which has limited plans for full height units on that side, been trying to get most out of the space and think this is a good option but anyone else have suggestion to max layout , always wanted a sofa and dining area but think it will be limited to a dining table under the restricted head height.
Any suggestions? Dimensions would be around 7m long and 5.5 wide externally.
Am I missing a trick with layout?
Downstairs shower room w/c is going in current access to garden.

Thank you Jonathon and looks great, however we have a step down from the existing dining into the kitchen to obtain min 2500 and also to retain character would not remove the chimney stack from the dining room to create enough cupboard space otherwise it would be a favourable layout :-)

This layout makes sense, but there are other options; If you are concerned with the size of the kitchen, you could look into moving the kitchen to the back. knock down the closet behind the toilet and locate the kitchen on that wall from side to side with a large island in the middle. The opposite wall can have a large bookcase/cabinet from side to side. The dining table can stand where the kitchen is now and you can make an opening from the lounge to the dining area for better flow. the extension will just be 10 meters but from the start of the living room to the back would be over 20 if we knocked the whole thing through. in the current dining area is a 16 seater table. we dont have children yet but might in the future. the washing machine in the kitchen but i think ill move it upstairs. i hate going up and down like a yoyo. boiler is upstairs also. the garden is small but this doesnt effect it much. we would be knocking down our current narrower kitchen which is just as long.

Hi Jane! You said you have little ones so want to avoid climbing opportunities for now. That makes sense but it's also worth thinking about in a year or so when you might want to start involving them in cooking, baking cakes etc, and then you could find it really helpful to be able to sit them up so they can also "work" along with you. If you're on the other side of a peninsula or island to them then you can keep sharp stuff away from them and help them with mixing, weighing, etc... Always worth looking towards the next stages when you're designing with kids because they'll grow and it can take a bit of time to finish a project - they likely will have changed in many tiny and maybe big ways before it's all complete. Hi OnePlan, many thanks for quick feedback. Valid points you made. The hallway to WC has a small cloakroom before you enter the WC. This is because I may not have enough space to put a door due to some structural elements and the clearing from front wall to stairs is just 36 inch. This is a southern aspect garden . I plan to put some sky lights/windows across the width of rear extension so yes its a valid point about evening sun affecting TV. Peninsula is also good option to give us more spaces. Let me work it and post back results. We could open a door to pantry/laundry room but then loose the wall to put stuff.

There are lots of times when there are steps between a kitchen and dining room.

And I believe that your current dining room is big enough to fit as a full kitchen without removing the chimney breast
