FUN Inspiration needed
We have completed an extension and I would like to see if anyone has any ideas for the wall behind the dining table, we have a temporary table we will be getting a slightly longer one.
As this is the main family room I would like to keep it quite bright and fun, i.e maybe some fun prints (i love the ’I love you in French’ print) and i would like to incorporate some house plants on the wall.
not sure how to bring it all together, has anyone done anything similar?
I will upload some pics of the whole room, its a complete blank canvas which is good.

Darker fascias make a surprising amount of difference, which I really like, and I can see how it anchors the roofline back down on the windows. I am pleased we decided not to switch the windows immediately as I can get the outside sorted and may be back pedalling and keeping dark ones even if we do replace them. The green/grey is lovely, the house is in a small village in rolling fields cow countryside rather than the higher sheep mountain country so as you can see in window there are a lot of trees around. The colour seems to settle the house nicely into that kind of environment. My list at the moment is now looking like -Remove stone around windows -Balance the new plainer wall with something tall -Darken the fascia/gutter -Fresher base tone paint - nothing creamy - looking to chalky/grey/green -Pop the front door :D -Poke around at the base of the house to see if the lawn can be pulled back a bit in front of the central wing. Comments (13)I think ours is the same as the one I've pictured and it's been great. Both beds are slatted but they've been very sturdy. My son is 14 in 3 weeks time, and I would say he's outgrown it now but he's insisting it's still OK!! He's currently got a memory foam mattress on his and loves it. Initially we were looking at some sort of loft bed but I was always concerned if would dominate the room and make it dark. Comments (20)Wow, thanks for the replies everyone... especially Minnie!!!!! I LOVE the first one you posted and that is exactly what I had in mind!! (The cabinet shelves at the very back of the picture!) I think they look incredibly stylish and I would imagine it will be much cheaper getting a carpenter making that instead of buying a complete (real wood) kitchen. Re the washing machine and dishwasher, yes I have these and don't mind them being on display. I also have marble worktops, hence wanting a solid base for them to go on. PRO3 years agoHave a look at the chalkboard paint ideas. It can be changed every day. It can be clean and elegant or full of pictures, drawings, messages, reminders. It is fun for kids.

PRO3 years agoI would explore adding some paneling which can also help with acoustics (as extensions can be quite echo-ey). You can either use it all over the wall or just add it to a smaller section of the wall
I have attached a few images.
A bespoke neon sign can be fun and can be fully personalised - these could out on top or next to the panelling if you only did a section.
I would also explore adding a low sideboard whoch will create interest, give you additional storage and allows you to add lamps, art work accessories.
