Hello Tom, I think it could be a very relaxing and inviting room - A mid century style sofa with legs would be ideal (Think mad men and stylish!) ... Something less solid and thus the feel is more open within the flooring spatially.. A 3 seater and perhaps two chairs.. Something that would work well with your chosen scheme (grey or other)... Perhaps have the sofa facing that little window wall with some chairs opposite.. So there's less of a "tunnel" You could then have a different shaped coffee table.. I'd suggest the less solid idea with any cabinetry like a console or sideboard.. Small cabinets.. Anything with legs! Even a wardrobe is a nice element in a living room.. Storage for crockery etc or the flat screen for example or projector.. Given the height, you could afford to have a larger ceiling light fitting here and why not have a look at Ebay. There are some really fantastic finds for vintage and interesting.. I'd bring the glass table out of that window recess a bit further... So it could be a multi- functioning table... Working, eating, socialising.. You may find then you don't need the other wooden table.. Chairs are other good finds on ebay or perhaps a visit to an antiques fair or two.. Mirrors could be interesting here too with the slope of the ceiling curve.. Plain and square.. if at all and hung on an angle reflects light downward.. especially good with a dark scheme... Now on to some colour... You might want to take inspiration from the rug too.. but I rather like the earthy grey or that which has brown in it.. You could introduce rust colours to compliment and then the light whiter colours for the ceiling half could be off whites and with slight yellows.. Little Greene has lovely colours.. Very chalky and dense.. For whites.. Whitening, White lead, Ceviche is nice, stone colours. Grey moss and Furrow for earthy greys. For rich grey Scree is lovely. Bring the wood work into the scheme too.. It makes for a fabulous finish.. Consider too on that rear wall (behind second sofa) a very large mirror to lean up against the wall.. Something like 8 x 6ft if you can get something sizey into the space.. Or a series of long narrow mirrors leant up against could do. If you decided to go with a dark colour this could work as it offsets the colour, bounces the light back into the room and offers a visually interesting element and spatially it makes the room twice the size whatever the size... A few ideas off the top of my head.. : ))

I wouldnt recommend putting a rug on to a wooden floor as if you change your mind in years to come you will create a 'framed floor' using clear oiled / lacquered oak / ash for example as it deepens in colour with exposure to sunlight / daylight. A clear Oiled Oak floor will gradually darken / become more golden with UV exposure. There is a way around this though if you choose a wooden floor that has been stained... stained dark, white , light or grey. The stain acts as a sunblock and stops the patina / colouration occurring. The floor below is the same as the floor above but it has been 'antiqued' with a rich brown stain and will remain the same colour if you cover it with a rug. Im biased but engineered wood is warm underfoot , hardwearing and versatile ...if you change your decor in years to come you can sand your floor and stain to complement a new scheme. If you use the same floor material throughout it creates flow and especially using lighter timbers /lightly stained if you are trying to ..maximise space as darker colours minimise spaces visually. The floor below is oour most popular floor - white stained ash . Very durable and gives a scandinavian style feel...this floor too you can place a rug over and it will not change colour . American White Ash engineered flooring creates an airily open feel. Anyway good luck and hope I havent confused you...floors and floor transitions are notoriously difficult to plan . I think I prefer the Ikea sofa as the Next one looks a little bulky for the room, washable covers also sound good. I do prefer the Ikea sofa I added but yours should work too, they're identical except for the arms. I also think they work well with the chairs, a different style is good. Just personal opinion but again for me if you're going industrial I would go for a wood floor and it adds so much warmth to a room, LVT may be a softer option? (Last try I promise!). Not sure if you like any of this? I didn't find cushions to match just in case you hate this one and it takes a while looking! It's impossible to choose art for somebody but you may like these. Junique and desenio are also good for affordable prints. Neon signs are also a good way to personalise a room if that's your thing i would add lots of texture for accessories, I think you need to get the furniture agreed first though. I would go for a light neutral for the walls. Need to know which way the room faces and you could work with any undertone in the navy paint
