I think it looks great. A couple of things you could consider are to bring a bit of the pink into the room elsewhere - maybe in a cushion or a throw or possibly just a touch of it in some wall art. One other thing to consider is height - apart from the floor lamp & the shelf (when looking the other way) everything is at a similar height - you can almost draw a line from the top of the pink chair across to the sofa. Even the lamp doesn’t add much height. Some art work on that long wall or a tall plant would prob help.

I think it looks great too. I do think your rug is too small. Go for a larger one, pull the pink chair in a bit closer, with legs on the bigger rug. Some cosy curtains, more cushions, a gallery wall or large piece on the wall behind the sofa. Also maybe a narrow picture shelf above the telly to display art/photos this makes the telly less of a feature 😍

Hi, I've attached a couple of ways to help you with positioning your art. Don't shy away from it 🥰 It will bring so much warmth to the room. It's a great looking room, your furniture is lovely, just needs a few tweaks.

It is such a nice room, just needs those finishing touches. Firstly, the rug. Far too small. A bigger rug with the sofas front feet sitting on it will immediately create cosiness. If it can reach across to the armchair then that’s great, but not essential. Next or Dunelm do some lovely ones. I would also get a nice big piece of art to go on the back wall above the sofa. I personally find trying to line up multiple pieces of art fiddly so I always go for that one big piece. Doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Try The Range, Dunelm or Next for nice prints. Lastly, a couple more lamps either table lamps or floor lamps in other corners of the room. This will again create extra cosiness especially at night. And I love the wicker cat bed (if that’s what it is) you have your priorities right! Hope horrid covid leaves you soon.

Sorry about the COVID, but I was in the same position last year....and had similar thoughts about finishing my living room. You have a great room. Without repeating what others have said, you might find it uplifting to add some subtle colour with cushions and wall art that include the pale pink and other colours too. My favourite way of finding interesting wall art is from charity shops and other second hand places. Find something you love and not just the first thing that will fit.

What am I looking for here specifically. Should it be right under the cat bed newr the wall and all the way upto the pink chair. You can't tell in those pics but it is a bit of a weird shape wall.

Also with the nest of tables and the lamp these can't be half on as they'd become unstable it's on or off so I need to kind of avoid these. Also I wouldn't want the door that comes into the lounge to touch the rug. (Would have to trim more off it).

I like the way some of your sofa, next to cat bed, sits on the rug. If you can do that with the other bit of the sofa that would improve things. Even if the front feet only just about sit on the rug, that will do. Some rugs are quite a flat weave so wouldn’t wobble too much. A rug similar to the one you have but bigger would do nicely. Lovely colours. Here’s some guidance on rug placement.

Hey Sonia, I got the tape measure out. So if I get one that's 230 to 240 wide that's aboutabout wider than the sofa x 160 or 170 makes it go under the sofa further by about 15cm and further out into the room by about 20cm from marking this out I can see it'd look a lot better.

There is a 290x200 but 290 takes it from the wall by the cat bed to nearly the chair (misses by about 15cm). But this would almost like swallow the entire floor if that makes sense.

Yeah this rug was expensive too lol think it was about 300 from JL in that size .

So yeah I'm thinking 230 or 240 which is wider than the sofa put every from leg on it. Slide it under a bit more and come out toward the TV stand more

Sorry all those measurement are making my head spin a bit, but your example is just the sort of thing I mean. Do you have any masking tape? If so you could measure out the rug size you may choose and then masking tape the floor to get an idea of where it fits, if that makes sense? I think you can see how much cosier it is with a larger rug. I would look at Dunelm for cheaper rugs if JL above your budget. They’re very good.

Dave you have a great room! The rug looks beautiful and everything in the right place as far as I can see. Maybe the unsual diagonal wood floor could make things appear out of line?

I can see few homely items missing though - like art on the wall, coffee table on the rug.

Add a lamp light on the nest of tables beside the sofa.

The coffee table could be soft sorage/pouffe and as a footrest. Try TKMaxx or Homesense for artwork and coffee table. You will create a balance once you add these things.

I think the room looks good. It just needs finishing, find a larger rug and large piece of art to go on the wall about the sofa and match colours from that piece on cushions and accessories. Get a lovely coffee table for the centre, glass if you don’t want to clutter the space
