Can you tell me what colours are painted on the doors and wood panelling in this beautiful house please. Particularly the sitting room.It is a stunning cottage.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm afraid I can't remember what colour was used in this room as it was quite some years ago. Try looking at something like "Drop Cloth" by Farrow & Ball which is similar. Kind regards. Natalie

Thanks very much for all the comments, very helpful. I like the idea of curtains with colour in it.. Would you paint the cabinet white? Or just get rid of the wooden furniture and replace with light grey furniture? I have real hardwood doors similar to the colour of the window surround so don't know how it will look if I paint all the surrounds etc? I agree with the picture rail, we will be removing..we have a plasterer coming out to quote us on plastering all the walls/ceiling. Thanks!

An electric towel radiator would be a great option for drying clothes. I would recommend going with something with plenty of surface area to increase drying space and heat output. It might be easier to dry clothes on a wide and lower design model like our Shorty model (as pictured), rather than a tall thin one (especially if you are trying to get the kids to help!). All of our ladder-style towel radiators are available in electric versions. I would also recommend a ceiling suspended clothes airer or "creel" as we call them in Yorkshire. We have one at home and it is invaluable in the winter.

External paintwork-window frames of large sash design, soffits etc

It is large detached traditional house in conservation area where doors, railings and gates in the area are traditionally painted in black. The window frames and soffits are currently Magnolia and it looks too yellow against the grey/gold sandstone of the building so a lighter shade would look better but not brilliant white. Then I wondered about grey or black? Any thoughts? Suggestion?

I would avoid painting the bricks if at all possible. Don’t think it will provide a finished, professional look, particularly because there seems no clear boundary with your neighbour’s house. Hope you’ll get some advice as to how to get the bricks properly cleaned. Btw, good to see your family member‘s still smiling in these bizarre times... 😉😀
