I do agree with all saying storage is paramount.. If you are purchasing furniture and items for your home, use the theory of how many people will be there.. Do you need six chairs when there is only normally the two of you... Improvise.. But we also hoard things that haven't been used in days or weeks. Sometimes months... My Mum had a a theory if it's not used within 6 months you don't need it... I have always tried to do the same.. A tidy home is a tidy mind. Makes your life so much easier.. Never be a slave to your home. Tidy as you go.. Use it move it.. Then you won't have to spend time cleaning and you can enjoy more of a life... Life is to short to spend time looking for things.. And after all.. If it has a place you will find it immediately... Simplest things that's it....

Ok. Where do you enter? And where is the bathroom? Bedroom is upstairs? Fireplace will be used as such? Is the space next to the sitting room a hallway? Where could the soil pipe go?

I need suggestions to break out for spiraling ideas to utilise space in the open plan kitchen and living area. As per the current design below, we enter through the hallway into kitchen via pocket door. The WC is on the right hand side. I have a long 7 meter kitchen and island. I want to put an American F/F but would not prefer to keep on the existing kitchen, as American F/F spoils the look of contemporary handleless kitchen. I have couple of vague ideas as shown below. I am sure there must be better way to use this space but I am not able to visualise that. Any suggestion(s) will receive a grand welcome. Dilemma: How can I fit American F/F (but not on the length of the kitchen) and WC.

I'm good on ideas, but haven't got a clue about structurals or costs! I've found daydreaming doesn't cost a lot, except time.....    tab's idea to incorporate pillars into the kitchen would create the open kitchen diner and the pocket doors could be the way to keep the living seperate but together with the function area. Would be interested if it increases your cupboard space or if just opening a section provides more storage capacity.  Although the play area is part of the way of living presently, that time will pass so I would hesitate to put in a wall you may only want to remove later. An open divider, like an open shelf unit would allow you to keep the play area out of the visuals, then the space could move into a second 'gaming' area or study area as little ones get bigger
