I love shutters but I think they would totally change the look of your house which looks great btw.If you're going to have mouldings and drop the window box a little lower I would think about artificial plants. I'm just thinking plants will need a fair bit of upkeep and unless you go up a ladder it could be dangerous! I know people may well disagree on that but I'm just thinking about leaning out of a window! I've had a quick look and you may struggle to find mouldings (seem to be called pediments?!) which would blend with the house. If so, just go for a deeper window box but hopefully you'll have more luck than me!

Hi Netty, As Lena suggested, shutters would be lovely. Here's an example in a bay window (slightly different to yours though as the panes are separated). If you choose wider louvres, you'll be able to let lots of light in while still protecting your privacy. Or alternatively, you could choose cafe style ones, where only the bottom of the window is covered for privacy, like below: If shutters aren't an option, I'd recommend emulating the look with Wooden blinds with tape. Ok, definitely changed my mind. Put it over towards the bifold. Personally, I would say that the least pressing concern is what it would look like from the back garden looking towards the house. I suspect that you will spend 95%+ time indoors and will really appreciate the view from the hall in to the garden several times a day. The window also centralises between the kitchen units and bifolds so has a natural centre point here. Also, look at the structural engineer’s drawings. You should get an idea of where the beam across the bifolds goes to. ‘Anything’ is possible structurally but the cost may vary. The only person who will probably notice these things is you - trust me I’ve been there . You have a lovely space and it will look great wherever a picture window goes. I really wouldn’t go moving kitchen units to centralise things. The only reason I have noticed these things is because of the question you asked but would admire a picture window wherever you put it. You’re right, it encroaches on the kitchen units. Defo towards the bifolds if it isn’t too expensive structurally.

I'll have to get on the band wagon and chip in on how amazing that view is, however completely get the need for some proper shut eye in the evening. I see this has been recommended a few times and I could agree that given the width of your window frame it would be possible to install a channel in which a block out roller blind can glide in and effectively stop any light bleed around the edges. Often these would have to be motorised as the chain isn't available due to the track, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
