sofa to complement chesterfield sofa

My living room has wallpaper, bay window and a fireplace. I am thinking of putting two sofas-- One of them a leather chesterfield. I am confused as to what to pair with it. I do not want another chesterfield as it would be too heavy for my taste. I want to it lighter, classic with modern touch. I am sure if it works . Would a fabric sofa look good with it? Does the other sofa need to have the same design? Please advice

Is your chesterfield a dark colour? Either of the second two would lighten the whole look. You could get another plainer chesterfield style in linen to contrast with the leather. Consider slip covers if you chose cream, maybe a pale grey would be more foregiving and match your silvery wallpaper.

Just another thought. Two smart armchairs with a small table between them opposite your sofa is also an alternative. It's a very sociable arrangement.

Chesterfields are very stylish and look beautiful in velvet, as long as you don’t have pets or young children! They do tend to be a little uncomfortable and do not support the head or neck very much, so I would try a few out before buying. Your second sofa has a scatter cushion back which tend to get scruffy looking with time and again not that supportive. I am a stickler for comfort so something with a more supportive back would be my choice.
