Hi Kirsten, Go with your gut on this one. A small guest bedroom/study/dressing room is a better use of the space than having two large bathrooms and only two bedrooms - in my opinion. As you say, it is better for the balance of the house over all. With a large family bathroom on the ground floor, it is a bonus to have the shower room upstairs. I would refit this to a standard and a scheme that make you happy to be in there and keep the layout as it is. Some amazing things can be done with small bathrooms these days. That is of course - If you are truly OK with that, it has to be what you want and what you can live with for years to come. It really depends what you want from the house and the space overall. If you are desperate for a bathroom upstairs, maybe convert it and then lose the downstairs bathroom to give you the added space downstairs? Do you need the third bedroom or will it sit there empty whilst you fight over the shower room? There are lots of options. Hi, I do love the tiles and if you are on a budget definitely keep them. I like the layout of the room, I would go with white bathroom furniture as the room looks a little dark. The best thing myself and my partner did was walk around some showrooms and even tile showrooms as you could find a similar tile set up to yours and see how they have done it. I recently went to tile town (I'm not sure if it's a country wide place) but they had a fantastic showroom upstairs. I would be wary about having to find matching tiles if you needed extras with your new furniture. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your comment, this is now quite an old thread and in that time, many many new sliding doors have hit the market, with many substantially better than the Cortizo product. Ultimately with sliding doors, there is no bad door or window on the market. But where they differ is who makes them, the overall supply chain and the quality of the installation. All the current products should be designed to meet or exceed industry standards for weather performance and security, as well as quality of aluminium and quality of paint finish. Where they can differ is in their aesthetics, overall sight lines, engineering, the quality of the hardware/components, the choices available and their brand perception. Any correctly made and properly fitted door should give you reliable service long term. For the gentleman in the states, it's impossible to help without knowing which brand you've had. Condensation is caused by so many issues not *just* the windows and doors and often it is a lack of airflow in the home. Otherwise it does sound like manufacturing and installation issues, rather than a product fault. Overall these products are very well designed. in the uk, happy to help with putting people in touch with suitable brands from reputable installers and the service is free.

We had the very same dilemma. I wanted the option of being able to open the door slightly, rather than having to open up a whole panel. In the end I factored in that our house has a lot of glass in it, it’s south facing on the living areas all day long and therefore one of our problems was the house being too warm. It only takes the sun to be out and the sky bright to warm up the house, doesn’t have to be even warm outside - we still have sun in winter! We went for bi fold in the end and it was the best decision, there may be a week give or take when we haven’t had them open but just a week or so in 6 months. Have them opened up all the time, and a previous poster mentioned about flies, it’s true, no flies stuck in the house ( incidentally a bonus). My neighbour went for sliding and regrets not having bi folds
