I agree sliding wardrobe doors are neater as you don’t need to allow for swing space, but unless it is really a bug bear, your current doors are fine.

I agree with Kazzh re the doors although perhaps mirrored ones would make it feel bigger but you could just change the handles for smaller ones and consider painting the doors in a colour with little contrast or the same as the walls. I’d paint the walls and radiator the same colour. I think a dressing table is essential? Yours is a little big for the space but not massively so. Perhaps consider swapping the stool for a round velvet one to vary the texture?

Personally I’d go for a larger quilt, it will feel more luxurious and add cushions (again using different fabrics) and maybe a throw (but don’t arrange the throw so it encroaches on the floor space)

I had considered painting the doors of the wardrobes and walls all dark grey to match furniture in ensuite and update handle with black to match.

i would like to coord it to the ensuite if poss. we wanted to upgrade to a king size bed would only be room for a very compact dresser maybe. i also had a tv but dont like the look of them on walls so think im going to have to compromise on something.

What does the new bathroom door look like? Same style as the other doors?

The current furniture goes well with the doors you have, but the panels do make it look busy.

Sliding doors require more space (depth), so i'd say keep the swing.

If you decide to paint the wardrobe doors, i'd suggest color block the entire wall and that wall only, make everything floor to architrave/ceiling the same colour.

The doors in the bathroom cabinets are handleless dark grey matt, which i had thought about as suggestions colour matching to the whole wardrobe wall, wanting a more modern look in the bedroom, than traditional. colour on bathroom wall is setting plaster f&b, with white linear tiles, all black shower taps etc

I don’t think you need to match the wardrobe doors to the bathroom, they really need to fit in with the bedroom decor. Are the blue walls staying or are you wanting to repaint the whole room? I would change the door knobs to brass or chrome but which will depend on the colours of the finished room. Traditional wardrobes can look fab with a more eclectic decor.
