I've stalked him on Twitter for years :) Minnie was in John Lewis earlier and had a gander at the Little Greene colour chip board and have to say Silt looked fabulous with the Purple Brown you like, it's looks fairly dark compared to other colours you've mentioned (and maybe a wildcard offering) but might work for exterior. Also had a little play with the Johnstones visualiser thingy on their website and very straightforward, I've never had any joy with the Dulux one.

Pressurised into pay a deposit......????? As a bespoke item you would expected to pay at least 50% deposit and you should have expected that it would take time to manufacture. It’s very good that they have offered to refund the money- that’s not the norm when you pay a deposit for a bespoke item- normally you would have lost that money for cancelling your order. The issue is just that they haven’t refunded the money as fast as you want but the reality is that small businesses generally only do accounts once a month. A solicitors letter will cost you money, likely £150 that could be avoided. There are alternative ways of chasing this refund. Firstly if you paid on a credit card you can get your credit card company to chase it. You could politely remind the company by email or recorded delivery letter that the refund has been agreed- the advice about stating a timescale for action is spot on- a letter to the company seems more civilised that rubbishing them on a public forum. If you remain unsuccessful you can claim this back through a small claims court which you can do online, won’t need a solicitor and has minimal cost.

You should only order a Shaker kitchen if you do not value your patience, self-respect, time and - most of all - hard-earned cash. It would be too boring to go into the litany of broken promises, missing items, unavailable items, damaged items, substandard items, amateur rectification, unpaid refunds and total lack of communication. On this last point, don’t be taken in by the shopping experience - the showroom staff are great but the back office is hopeless. It is impossible to get a meaningful response from them. Please note that things are no better under the new owners; they are very evasive and clearly have no respect for customers. On this page, you will see that the new owners are using weasel legal explanations to try to shrug off these reviews, which does not change the horrendous customer experience. (But, as they are being technical about their acquisition, let’s look at that too; I very much doubt they are servicing existing customers out of the goodness of their hearts. It is more likely that the revenue of the existing customers’ contracts is one of the assets that they bought, which means they have legal obligations to such customers.) There is also a review from Mr Grunfeld, who is apparently the founder of the Shaker Kitchen Company (whose assets were acquired by Shaker Workshop). He clearly does not respect the voice of his customer, which explains why the culture of the business that he has transferred to Shaker Workshop is so poor. Legislation such as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 was introduced to protect customers against the attitude of businesses such as Shaker (in both its guises). The business seems toxic so only deal with them if you want to be contaminated. It is an ugly experience.

Hi Rhian Am i right in understanding that the window is shown in the wrong position and the bathroom is shown on plans as in the wrong place. if the former is incorrectly positioned then the engineer will have to redo the calculations to prove the position works and importantly that you builder has the correct information. the adjustment may not be significant, but he/she will need to verify this for you to have building control signed off for the former, if incorrectly positioned. if it is merely a room shown incorrectly, and the dormer is in the right position then the engineer will not need to adjust any calculations. hope I have understood you issue. if you provide a photo of the plans ,it may help in better understanding your problem. best Rowland
