Hi Jade. The room is small and it is also the walkway to the back f the house, which further obstruct its functionality. If you are keen to keep the living room separated from the kitchen, then your furniture layout is probably the only way to go. I would advise you to consider taking down the wall to the kitchen and create an open plan. It will make the space feel spacious and you might even consider a different layout: Place the kitchen at the rear on the right wall, place your lounge on the opposite wall facing the kitchen, put a room-dividing furniture in between with the TV inside and place the dining table where the lounge is now. You can get a really contemporary looking comfortable space. Hi Faith Exciting project! We’ve renovated four Victorian houses and been delighted with the result. Based on your plan I would probably extend onto the lean to footprint. You could leave the loo where it is and have a utility area / boot room / muddy access just before it. I might remove the jutting out part that I think is the old outside loo. Lots of glass in the roof and build generally should bring enough light back through to the room marked dining. You would then have space for an L shaped kitchen coming from the right as you walk through the door from dining to kitchen. The LHS of the room could be new dining and incorporate some China and glass storage that side too. Have fun- will be beautiful.

Hi KB, Yes this sounds great for the kitchen so that you have focused task lighting for the prep area and the dining area.   In regards to the living area I would always suggested softer more indirect lighting as this will create a softer more relaxed ambience.  Opt for wall lights, free standing lamps and table lamps all with LED warm temperature bulbs. If you do want to add a central ceiling light i would definitely recommend adding a dimmer too so the lighting level can be changed to suit the time of day.
