Bench over radiator

Has anyone on here ever built a bench over a radiator please?
We've got this low windowsill and it's a perfect height to sit on but not deep enough. It's next to the back door so ideal to pop shoes on for the garden, and wondering if it's possible to make the sill deeper somehow.

Pendant lights over island bench?
Comments (8)Hello Stella, Okay.. Well I would say that you could have pendants given the size of the room and if you're not having overhead extraction on the island for example... Also there are many other things you can do with an island that doesn't necessarily involve lighting at all.. You might want to hang your pans for example.. It's not a prerequisite to have lighting here. Interested to know what the Tropical garden window splashback is.. but don't forget a pendant can be a cluster configuration of a single drop. They look really gr8 at differing heights and 3 or 5 could be fantastic. In this way you can actually create something bespoke.. Things to consider are that beautiful bulbs that can be a feature in themselves... Scale... Large expansive, vs smaller. Then textures as this can create interest... Also colour... can you pick out the splashback somehow.. You can do this kind of thing with 1 ceiling rose and multiple outlets.. Have interesting cable and hooks... Comments (4)Jali is an online company that’s been going for years - they do various made to measure covers. https://www.jali.co.uk/product/radiator-covers Radiator covers aren’t always cheap (unless you find a fab carpenter as Daisy suggested) - so another option would be to replace the rads with traditional column versions - you can get some amazing ones!!...See Morewould it work to have two radiators in this hallway?

Yes - have considered removing the other (existing radiator) but that currently then runs on a circuit through the wall to the living room so would have to think about how that continues. There are some draft challenges - there is obvious cold through the bottom of the front door that could be tackled, but short of a porch (which I always think ruins period houses) or a curtain (the people before had one but not my style) I’m stuck. The loft is insulated. Cold walls seem to be a challenge in these houses full stop, lots of people I know have a similar issue in fitted wardrobes against external walls and find themselves having to leave the door open all day to ensure heating / airflow or they get mold. Will definitely give some thought to how we might be able to vary the heating set up as some rooms do get much hotter than others so yes, ideally it would be on where we need it rather than everywhere at once...See More- last year
